Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 156

“I want to be with you.”

Jonathan’s strikingly handsome face was just inches away. His skin seemed softer and smoother than most women’s, flawless and luminous. His eyes shone with quiet confidence, his nose perfectly sculpted, and even the curve of his lips was undeniably attractive.

From the first time she met Jonathan, Charlotte had thought he was good-looking.

Still, back then, she’d been more drawn to someone like Evander—masculine, sharp-featured, with eyes that held depths she couldn’t quite reach.

But now, Jonathan’s abrupt honesty left her startled. “Jonathan, you…”

The confession caught her completely off guard. She had no idea how to respond.

“Sorry, I know that was sudden. I planned to wait until your divorce was final to tell you,” Jonathan added, his gaze steady, his voice gentle. “You don’t have to answer right away. I just wanted you to know how I feel. I’m not in any rush.”

Charlotte pressed her lips together, silent.

Jonathan’s eyes crinkled with a smile. “What’s wrong, Charlotte? Don’t tell me you feel pressured. Even if you turn me down, I’ll be fine. I’m not the petty type.”

She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Jonathan, I’m still married. This is a lot to process.”

He clasped his hands, resting his chin on his interlaced fingers. “So, does that mean I’ll have a chance once you’re single?”

Charlotte was lost for words.

Jonathan laughed. “Alright, I’ll stop teasing. I should get going.” He walked to the door, then glanced back at her. “But seriously, think about it.”

After he left, Charlotte pressed her fingers to her temple, her head pounding.

What on earth just happened?

Jonathan wanted to pursue her?

She’d never even imagined it. The whole thing felt surreal, like something out of a soap opera.

At that moment, her phone buzzed with a message from Dean Chase: the investigation into the anesthetic incident was complete.

She opened it, and her expression darkened.

Tricia was cleared of all suspicion; Wendy had changed her story and taken the blame.
