Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 1073

Griffin nodded. "Something urgent came up in Gotham, so your brother had to head back to handle it. As for your father..."

Thinking about Julian Reed's intense eagerness to leave the second the reception ended, Griffin couldn't bring himself to tell his precious daughter that her biological father found her to be a massive third wheel.

He smoothly pivoted. "Your father didn't want to intrude on your wedding night with Andres, so he took your mother and left."

Maeve wasn't buying a word of it.

"My dad's definitely annoyed with me again."

Ever since they arrived in Aethelburg, Maeve had stuck to her mother like glue, utterly denying her parents a single moment alone together.

Julian hadn't said anything out loud, but deep down, he was surely irritated.

Because the only person Julian Reed truly loved in this world was Serenity Vance.

Both Titus and Maeve were just excess baggage to him.

To prevent any more children from stealing his wife's time, Julian had even undergone a vasectomy.

One son and one daughter already demanded too much of Serenity's attention; he absolutely refused to give any other child the chance to be born.

Naturally, the other reason for the procedure was to protect his wife's health.

The experimental serum Maeve created years ago had altered both his and Serenity's appearances and biology, and he hadn't been certain if a pregnancy would shatter that delicate equilibrium.

For the sake of his wife's wellbeing, having more kids was entirely unnecessary.

Thankfully, Maeve didn't really mind, because she had Griffin—the father who actually doted on her.

"Dad, how long are you staying this time?"

"I'm leaving tonight," Griffin replied.

Maeve grabbed the sleeve of his jacket.

"Why are you rushing off so soon? Didn't you say you'd stay around until the baby is born?"

Griffin gently ruffled her hair. "Your mission right now is to focus on your pregnancy and build your little family with Andres."

"Whether it's me, your parents, or your brother, we are your family."
