Nancy stepped directly in front of Andres's bumper.
"If you want to leave, you'll have to drive over my dead body!"
Under any other circumstances, Andres would have told Murray to step on the gas and flatten her.
But he knew Nancy couldn't die just yet.
Ignoring the torrential downpour, he kicked his door open, marched out into the rain, and violently grabbed Nancy by the collar. He dragged her to the nearest random car and shoved her into the passenger seat.
The bewildered driver stared at him in shock.
"Hey man, what the hell is this? Who is this psycho?"
Andres pulled a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills from his jacket, threw them at the driver, and barked, "Don't let her run!"
He immediately sprinted back to his SUV.
Knowing Maeve's life was on the line, Murray wasn't holding back.
The intersection was total chaos, but the White family's elite convoy moved like a battering ram.
Nancy had brought a lot of thugs, but Andres's security detail was a highly trained private army.
After a brief, violent clash of metal and engines, the convoy smashed through the blockade.
By the time Nancy scrambled out of the stranger's car, it was too late. She could only stand in the rain and watch Andres's taillights disappear into the storm.
She gritted her teeth so hard she tasted blood.
She hadn't realized Andres loved Maeve with such desperate intensity.
The rain hammered down relentlessly, and the thunder boomed in rapid succession.
As the car tore toward Azure Bay, Andres's mind was tortured by images of Maeve being struck by lightning.
He didn't dare call her.
Given her bizarre connection to the storms, he was terrified the electromagnetic signal would act as a beacon and draw a strike straight to her.
When the SUV finally skidded to a halt outside the Azure Bay Villa, Andres practically tore the door off its hinges and sprinted to the master bedroom.
He burst inside, fully expecting to find Maeve cowering in fear.
Instead, Maeve was sitting calmly, staring intensely at her heavily pregnant belly. She looked up when the door slammed open.
At that exact moment, another deafening crack of thunder shook the house.
