Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 118

It was a kind of emotional spiral he'd never experienced before. He'd been the one to propose they not interfere with each other, but the more he learned about her, the less control he had over how deep he was falling.

When he woke up, Andres was still in his own bed.

That meant two possibilities: either the Binding between him and Maeve had failed, or Maeve hadn't slept all night.

Either way, he needed to know where she was, and who had been with her.

As dusk crept in again, unease tightened in his chest. Was she not coming back tonight either?

He called her again and again. Every time: out of service.

He even went to her study. Stranger still, no matter what he tried, he couldn't get that door open.

He'd considered ordering someone to break it down—then pictured Maeve finding out and making his life hell, and forced himself to drop the ridiculous idea.

By eight o'clock, he couldn't sit still anymore.

Murray came in after ending a call. "Mr. Colter called. He asked if you'd make time to see him. I declined politely."

Andres nodded absently.

Ever since Lincoln had been arrested, his older brother had started playing the family card, begging him to show mercy—stop pushing his own nephew to the edge.

As if Lincoln hadn't spent the last decade committing one vile act after another.

Even if Andres let it go, the authorities wouldn't.

Murray suddenly pointed out the window. "That's Miss Vance's car."

Andres's heart jolted. He looked instinctively.

Maeve eased her beat-up car into the mansion's courtyard, slow and casual.

Andres forced himself back into his seat, pretending calm.

So she finally decided to come home.

Murray stayed at the glass doors watching. "Mr. Andres... she's driving away again."
