Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 120

"If Mr. Mateo wants to bring some little girl in here to cause chaos," one doctor snapped, "and delay the critical window for resuscitation, that liability is not landing on this hospital."

To most of them, anything outside standard hospital protocol sounded like a scam. And this masked girl looked like she still had homework assignments and a student ID.

Compared to doctors with decades of clinical experience, her presence was a joke.

Mateo's emotions were a mess.

Maeve was technically his classmate, but they weren't close. They both studied biological sciences. Their world was labs and research papers—not hospital rooms and emergency protocols.

He'd been desperate, and desperation had made him gamble on Maeve.

Still... somewhere in the back of his mind, a quiet instinct insisted she might be worth trusting.

Maeve's patience thinned as the doctors continued to needle her. "Can none of you stay quiet for three minutes?"

A female doctor shot back, "Do you have any idea how precious three minutes are for a critical patient?"

Maeve yanked open Declan's hospital gown, exposing his chest, and ripped off the monitoring pads.

"Exactly because I know how precious it is, I'm telling you to shut your mouths."

She flicked a pen in her hand. The casing popped, revealing a neat row of silver needles concealed inside.

In a swift, controlled rhythm, she found her marks and placed the needles with frightening accuracy. The room went still.

Even the doctors stared. Mateo, too, hadn't expected her hands to move that fast, so controlled it was almost frightening.

A male doctor stepped forward, tense. "Miss, this isn't the time for some personal-hero fantasy. Stop while you still can. If the patient—"

Maeve cut him off with a glance. "Aren't I the one cleaning up your mess?"

"Your patient was poisoned while under your care. If this gets investigated, your hospital will be the one held responsible."
