The account was called Fall From Grace.
The poster claimed her cousin was an intern nurse at a private hospital in Aethelburg. Less than a month into the job, she'd been sexually harassed and beaten by a rich kid with the last name Morales—along with his friends.
To prove it, the poster attached photos.
A young woman, bruised and swollen, her skin marked up like she'd been hit by a mob. It was sickening.
Maeve had barely gotten halfway through when the screen refreshed and a notice popped up: "This post is no longer available."
She searched for it. Nothing.
Someone had scrubbed it—fast and clean.
Even without the full post, Maeve caught the key details:
A private hospital. A rich kid named Morales.
The same hospital where she'd been set up and had her kidney taken.
And the Morales rich kid? There was no question—it was Ansel Morales, the one who'd been at death's door.
The trash really didn't waste time. The minute he crawled back from the edge, he went right back to doing evil.
"Maeve, why are you still here?"
Mateo strode over in a hurry, pointing toward the cafeteria. "Lunch?"
Maeve put her phone away and nodded. "Sure. I'm hungry anyway."
The cafeteria was packed.
Mateo was practically campus royalty; wherever he went, people looked. With Maeve beside him, the whispers multiplied—curious, suspicious, hungry for a story.
In the crowd, Millie saw them and went rigid.
A girl next to her leaned in. "Millie... are they dating?"
Declan was officially out of danger now. The doctor who witnessed Maeve saving him had also been paid to keep quiet.
Mateo wanted to ask what Maeve was capable of—how far her medical skill really went.
But he swallowed the question.
Naomi had warned him: don't interrogate Maeve. The more you ask, the farther she'll pull away.
All he needed to remember was that Maeve was someone worth keeping in his life.
Once he accepted that, he let it go.
"The school's putting together a tech competition," Mateo said, shifting topics. "It involves AI. Only three slots."
"I've got one. Anya got another. Before Mr. Sterling left the country, he told us to try to get the last spot for you."
No wonder Sterling favored Maeve. Anyone with eyes would protect talent like hers.
