Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 82

Andres gave him a light punch to the chest. "You know, hands off your buddy's wife."

The man hooked an arm around Andres, leaned in, and murmured a few words into his ear. Then he strode away with his entourage like he owned the ocean.

Even as he left, he didn't forget to wave goodbye to Maeve.

Declan didn't understand a word of it, but the way Andres and Maeve watched each other told him plenty.

He gave Maeve a questioning look. "What were you talking about?"

Maeve smiled. "Just friends saying hello."

Andres deliberately asked her in Sanskrit, "Scared to tell him what we are?"

Maeve answered in Sanskrit without blinking. "First, I don't want to. Second, there's no need."

Declan cleared his throat pointedly. "Now that the foreign guest has left, can you two go back to speaking English like normal people?"

Maeve was about to respond when Andres lifted a hand and adjusted the gold hairpin tucked into her updo.

Maeve instinctively leaned back, but Andres caught her by the waist, firm, possessive. "It's crooked. Don't move."

Under a dozen prying eyes, Andres personally fixed the ornament in place. His gaze was soft, his touch intimate, more than enough to set imaginations on fire.

No one was more humiliated than Anya.

She'd come aboard as the "translator," yet she couldn't even handle a basic conversation. The secondhand embarrassment was brutal.

Worse, Maeve, the woman Anya looked down on, not only spoke effortlessly with Andres, but traded looks with him that felt… almost tender.

Only when the hairpin sat perfectly again did Andres release her, still speaking in Sanskrit. "I have a few clients to entertain. I'll come get you later."

As he passed Declan, he left him a line in Sanskrit: "Take care of my wife."

Declan watched him go, then turned to Maeve, baffled. "What did he just say to me?"
