Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 96

Andres's gaze slid to Maeve, suddenly sharp with something like disbelief.

This woman could move—fast, controlled, and like she'd been trained for it.

Murray and the others surged forward to slap cuffs on Lincoln.

Lincoln didn't even pretend he was going quietly. He snatched up a remote and lifted it like a weapon. "One push of this red button, and everyone on this boat dies with me."

Murray's team froze on instinct.

Andres caught Maeve by the arm, trying to pull her behind him.

Maeve shook him off again and looked straight at Lincoln. "Go on, then. Press it."

Andres snapped under his breath, "Could you, just once, get behind cover?"

Maeve shot him a look. "Why would I?"

Andres chocked.

A man protecting the woman he cared about—wasn't that just… basic?

"The woman I cared about?"

The realization landed like a punch to the ribs, and he had to steady his face.

Somewhere along the way, had Maeve become that important to him?

Lincoln, rattled and furious, roared, "Fine. If you're not afraid to die, I'll take all of you with me!"

He slammed the red button down, waiting for the ship to erupt.

Nothing.

No blast. No tremor. No screaming alarms.

The cruise ship sat in dead silence.

Lincoln pressed it again. And again. And again, until his thumb was practically punching the plastic.

"What is this? What's happening? Why aren't the bombs going off?!"

Maeve smiled, cool, sly, almost amused. "Because I had my people dump every piece of explosive material they could find overboard."

Right on cue, Hans arrived with a group of men. "Every location Miss Vance provided was accurate. All devices have been dismantled."

Andres's eyes narrowed. He hadn't expected Hans to be taking orders from Maeve behind his back.

He turned to her. "How did you know there were bombs on board?"

Maeve didn't bother playing innocent. "When I was messing with Anya, I took a quick stroll through the ship's network backend. A few nodes looked off, so I had Hans check them."
