Eclara University boasted two massive tennis courts.
Because of the tournament, they had been sectioned off into four separate playing areas.
Four matches across eight departments would take place simultaneously.
Since Sheryl’s reputation as a "tennis powerhouse" was so widely known, a lot of departments hadn’t even bothered signing up, terrified of the humiliation.
Sheryl was representing the medical department against the pre-law students.
Juniper, representing the computer science department, was up against the music department.
The remaining four departments were squaring off on the adjacent courts.
The four winners would then draw lots to battle for the top three spots.
"Let's go, Sheryl!"
The premeds started screaming the second she stepped onto the court.
Juniper swept her gaze across the crowd and immediately locked onto a familiar figure.
Even standing right in the middle of the medical department's cheering squad, Yolanda Sherwin was easy to spot.
It had been a while. Juniper had almost thought Yolanda had finally learned to keep her head down.
Clearly, she had given the girl too much credit.
"Computer Science Representative, Juniper Payne."
Hearing the referee’s call, Juniper strolled onto the court, racket in hand, and met the music student face-to-face.
"H-hi, Goddess."
The girl was slim and tall, possessing the kind of lean, functional muscle that came from consistent workouts.
"Hey."
Juniper offered her a warm, friendly smile. "Have you played much?"
"A few years."
Flustered by Juniper’s smile, the girl’s cheeks instantly flushed crimson. "Goddess, I am such a huge fan!"
"Not only did you ace the entrance exams, but you’re literally amazing at everything else."
The girl started rattling off Juniper’s achievements like she was reading a resume.
"Master dancer, brilliant hacker, race car driver..." She practically vibrated with excitement. "I saw the video of you playing a dozen different instruments at the high school graduation gala!"
"Oh my god, you were incredible. I worship you."
"Goddess, I seriously love you so much."
"Oh! Can we get a selfie?"
