The bell rang for the end of class.
Juniper grabbed her phone and stormed out of the classroom, her face icy.
"Juni—"
A classmate, about to greet her, swallowed their words instantly upon seeing her terrifying expression.
Wow.
The Goddess looked furious today. Did Mr. Schwartz make her mad again?
—
Juniper strode briskly to the stairwell.
She dialed Shanley's number. It went straight to voicemail.
"Bastard!" she cursed under her breath, immediately dialing Felton.
"Ms... Ms. Payne."
The call connected quickly, and Felton's trembling, incredibly guilty voice came through the speaker.
"Did Shanley not exit the car as planned?" Juniper gripped the phone tightly. Even though she kept her voice low, the sheer intimidation rolling off her was suffocating.
"I..." Felton wiped the sweat from his forehead. He wanted to lie and say he didn't know, but then he heard Juniper's frigid voice:
"You know the price of lying to me."
"Yes, yes, yes," Felton admitted in a panic, his voice shaking. "Mr. Schwartz didn't deviate from the plan at first. But later... by the time we tried to stop him, it was too late."
"Is he the only one in the car?" Juniper asked, her knuckles turning white, her voice growing hoarse.
"Yes," Felton replied meekly.
"There has to be another way to communicate with that car," Juniper took a deep breath, checking the time on her screen.
"There is." Felton didn't dare hide a single detail now. "The Boss has a secondary burner phone to contact the team."
"Give me the number."
"Ms. Payne, I don't dare." Felton's legs turned to jelly, and he practically dropped to his knees, his eyes red. "The Boss forbade me from giving it out, or he'll kill me."
"If you don't give it to me, guess if I'll kill you right now," Juniper said, biting out every word.
Flint, standing nearby, took a sharp breath. Being an assistant was just too hard.
No matter who they offended, they were going to die.
