In the living room.
Jimmie sat on the sofa with a gloomy expression, his eyes constantly darting toward the bedroom door. "Are you sure you want to leave Juniper alone in the room with him?"
Shanley swirled his wine glass, walking over to Jimmie with a wicked smile. "I used to worry, but now? I'm completely at ease."
He could tell the feeling was mutual. Since that was the case, there was nothing to worry about.
"How do you think he'll respond to me?" Jimmie pressed his lips together, swallowing his urge to curse Shanley out, and asked politely.
"How should I know?" Shanley offered him a glass of red wine, raising an eyebrow. "Drink?"
"I can't drink!"
Jimmie shook his head. Just as he was about to speak, the bedroom door suddenly opened.
It was Luella who came out.
"It's too sudden, she can't process it right now." Juniper relayed Luella's message. "She asked you to leave first and give her a night to think."
"Alright." Jimmie knew he was pushing too hard. He stood up, his voice hoarse. "Juniper, would you be against it?"
"Me?"
Juniper blinked, holding her breath, and asked again, "Jimmie, you like Luella for who ‘he’ is, and you really don't care if it's a man or a woman?"
"Yes!"
"Then it's fine!" Juniper gave a faint smile and spoke slowly. "Go back for now. Luella will give you the answer. As for whether I agree or not..."
Juniper paused, then continued, "I don't care. Luella is a good person, and so are you. If you two can be together, I'd be happy."
Originally, Luella wanted to reject him outright, but she was afraid Jimmie would lose his mind on the spot.
Thinking it over for a night might give her time to find a better excuse to let him down gently.
"Understood." Getting the answer he wanted, the corners of Jimmie's mouth lifted. "Juniper, thank you."
