“You, you, you...”
Yolanda slumped to the ground, craning her neck to stare at the figure, scooting backward in sheer terror.
It was the middle of the second period.
The pathway was completely deserted, so her cries for help went unnoticed.
“Who are you? How did you get onto campus?” Yolanda was on the verge of passing out from fear.
The figure looked like a woman, but the scars on her face were clearly from severe burns.
The wounds hadn't fully healed and looked raw and gruesome.
It was absolutely terrifying to look at.
“You don't need to know who I am. You only need to know that I am going to be your savior.”
The woman opened her mouth. Her voice was incredibly raspy, as if her vocal cords had been burned as well.
If Yolanda didn't listen closely, she wouldn't have understood a word.
“Savior?”
Yolanda stared at her cautiously. What was this freak talking about?
“Do you want to completely ruin Juniper Payne?” the woman spoke again. “If you do, come with me.”
Juniper Payne?
Hearing that name, Yolanda's nerves instantly pulled taut.
After a few seconds of deliberation.
She gathered her courage and followed the woman.
The woman led her to the parking lot and they got into a black sedan.
“Who exactly are you?”
Yolanda huddled in the corner, staring at her warily, her face pale with fear.
“I used to be a top researcher at a genetic modification research center in a certain country.”
The woman leaned back against the seat, her face twisted in agony as she explained in a low voice. “Our research was right on the verge of success, but someone turned traitor and destroyed everything we had achieved.”
