"Hold on tight."
The words had barely left her lips when the car shot forward with a sudden, violent acceleration. The force of the wind contorted Ebony Fox's face as she scrambled to grab the handle, feeling as though her soul was being left behind as the car raced ahead. She'd always considered herself a bit of a wild driver, but she never imagined her younger sister was even crazier.
Juniper had the pedal floored, and sparks flew as the car's door scraped against something, the entire vehicle tilting at a dangerous angle. Anyone else would have flipped, but Juniper remained unbelievably calm, even finding a moment to unwrap a lollipop and pop it in her mouth.
Watching Juniper’s unflappable performance, Ebony Fox’s eyes grew wider and wider.
"Here, you have one too," Juniper said, sparing a hand to stick a lollipop in Ebony Fox's mouth.
*Screech—*
A sharp turn followed, and the car wove through a dense pack of vehicles.
*Bang! Crash!*
The pursuing cars couldn't react in time and ended up crashing into the roadside ditches.
"Tch." Juniper glanced back, a cold, mocking laugh escaping her throat. "What a joke. A bunch of useless trash!"
Ebony Fox felt like the G-forces were about to shake her soul from her body, but she managed to hold on to the lollipop her sister had given her. The men chasing them were the Huntsman Institute's top elites. Maybe it wasn't that they were useless... could it be that her sister was just that ridiculously good?
After losing Ewan’s men, Juniper finally eased off the gas.
"This whole area is Ewan's turf," Ebony Fox said, sucking on her lollipop. She'd never tasted anything so sweet. "He won't give up. Be careful."
"That was just the warm-up." Juniper flexed her wrists, a bright smile spreading across her beautiful face. "Bring on more. I'm in the mood for some bumper cars."
"Specter!" Ewan raised his gun, glaring at Juniper with unbridled fury. "Don't push your luck, you little brat!"
"Leader—" one of his men quickly grabbed Ewan's arm. "The Sigma Network is here!"
"They're here?" Ewan's expression changed.
"Yes, sir," the subordinate replied respectfully. "And we heard their leader came in person."
The leader of the Sigma Network? At those words, the smile on Juniper's face slowly vanished, replaced by a cold glint in her eyes.
"Scared now?" Ewan gloated, seeing the change in her expression.
To think, the leader of the Sigma Network himself had come to capture the head of the Subterra Vanguard! This was going to be good.
