Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 778

Eclara City.

As the plane landed, Juniper saw her three brothers waiting outside. Each one had a long face and eyes that could cut like knives.

Ebony Fox hadn't told them she was returning. Juniper hadn’t told them she was going off to rescue someone on her own. And Shanley…

Great. Just great. So they were the outsiders now?!

Shanley, knowing he was in the wrong, cleared his throat and quietly retreated behind Juniper.

Ebony Fox glanced at the guilt-ridden Shanley and let out a cold, disdainful scoff. Such a coward!

Then her eyes met the murderous glares of her three brothers. They looked fierce, like this wasn't going to be an easy fix.

“Ahem…” Ebony Fox pretended to bend down and tie her shoelace, then she too quietly shuffled behind Juniper.

The two schemers exchanged a brief look before calmly looking away.

Juniper walked a few yards before realizing her backup hadn't followed. She glanced back, then at the three ferocious figures in front of her who looked like a trio of bulldogs, and a dismissive little laugh escaped her.

“Decided to come back, have we?” Jimmie was the first to speak, asserting his authority as the eldest brother. “Juniper, have you gotten bold? How could you not tell us about something so dangerous? Do you even think of us as your brothers?”

“Yeah,” Harold chimed in, his gaze fixed on his sister as he scolded her without mercy. “The older you get, the more you do as you please. You dare to charge into the Amazon rainforest alone? What’s next, flying to the moon?”

“You—” Melvin had a whole speech prepared to lecture his sister. When he heard she’d run off to Huntsman Institute deep in the Amazon rainforest to save Ebony Fox, he’d almost cried his eyes out. But just as the words were on his lips, he met Juniper’s deep, penetrating gaze. The rest of his speech got stuck in his throat.

“It’s good you’re back,” Melvin said, scratching his hair and forcing a smile.

“It was an emergency. Juniper didn’t have time to inform you,” Shanley said, stepping forward to drape a coat over Juniper’s shoulders.

“She didn't have time, but what about you?” Melvin shot back.

“Juniper warned me not to say anything,” Shanley said with a casual shrug. “I wouldn’t dare go against her wishes. You know I have no status here!”

Jimmie’s mouth twitched, and he looked at Shanley as if he were insane. Was this the same decisive, cold-hearted man he knew? A terminal case of being lovesick was truly a terrifying thing.

“This is about me, so don’t blame Juniper,” Ebony Fox said, stepping forward to face her brothers. “If you have a problem, take it up with me.”

The three brothers glanced at Ebony Fox. Take it up with her? As if they could beat her in a fight.

“That’s enough,” Jimmie said, rubbing his temples. He felt like he had two sisters and not a single one of them was easy to manage. “You’ve all had a long flight and you look exhausted. Let’s just go home and rest.”
