"Done ordering," Juniper said, looking up at the others. "Anything else anyone wants?"
"We're good."
"I want..." Celine started to raise her hand, ready to order more.
Juniper immediately snapped the menu shut. "No, you don't."
She'd already ordered a ton. Could she even finish it all?
"Okay," Celine replied, not the least bit upset, and sat obediently beside Juniper.
Every so often, she'd get a curious look and lean in to study Juniper's face. Juniper would just have to frown slightly, and Celine would immediately sit up straight again.
"Miss, you didn't finish telling us your name earlier."
Qadir had taken a real liking to her—all cute and no brains. With her around, he was no longer the one with the lowest IQ. He was thrilled.
"Celine Sherwin," she announced primly, like a model student. "The Sherwin is from my husband."
"Your husband's Sherwin?" Qadir looked confused, and the others glanced at her curiously, not understanding.
"Yep, yep!" Celine nodded, her long, thick eyelashes fluttering like a carefree sprite's wings. "My husband's last name is Sherwin, so my last name is Sherwin, too."
"Huh?" Qadir was even more baffled, turning into a curious child. "So you and your husband have the same last name?"
Celine paused, then nodded as if she vaguely understood.
"Sherwin isn't a very common name..." Qadir rested his chin on his hand, narrowing his eyes in thought. "What's the relationship between you two? Don't tell me you're..."
“Clang!”
"So..." Queenie forced a smile, her voice as gentle as if she were coaxing a child. "Where is this picture of your husband?"
Celine opened her phone, fumbled with it for a moment, then slowly looked up. "It's on my other phone."
Whenever they went out, Warren would give Celine a slight disguise and a different phone with no critical information on it. He was the Lord of Liberty Island. Countless eyes were watching him, and countless people wanted him dead. He couldn't tolerate anyone targeting Celine or putting her in the slightest bit of danger.
A long silence fell over the table after Celine spoke. After all that talk, there was no picture. And they had been force-fed a dose of her saccharine romance.
Impressive. Very impressive!
Tsk. And she's so proud of it. Juniper couldn't help but let the corner of her lip curl into a smirk.
"Here you are." Just then, their food arrived, and the server's voice broke the awkward silence.
"Remember to watch the window. Let me know when your husband comes out," Juniper said, arranging Celine's knife and fork for her.
