Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 824

Their eyes locked for a few seconds before Warren broke contact, stepping aside. There was no better doctor in the world than Specter.

Juniper averted her gaze and sat beside Celine, her fingers gently finding her pulse point.

“Needles.”

The word had barely left her lips before Shanley presented an open case to her.

After sterilizing them, Juniper took a thin silver needle and expertly inserted it into a pressure point on Celine’s face, followed by others in a rapid, fluid sequence. Her hands moved so fast it was impossible to track exactly where each one went.

As she placed the final needle, the woman who had been unconscious suddenly gasped, her eyes flying open.

“Cough, cough…”

Seeing the face before her, Celine’s eyes instantly reddened with tears of disbelief.

“How many fingers am I holding up?” Juniper leaned in, raising two fingers.

“Two,” Celine whispered, her eyelashes wet with tears.

“It was a temporary syncope caused by emotional distress and a lack of oxygen to the brain. She’s fine.” Juniper finally allowed herself to relax, letting out a quiet breath. “Get her some warm water.”

“Right away.” A maid hurried forward with a glass.

“Allow me to feed the Madam, sir,” she offered respectfully. After all, it wasn’t proper for a man to be so intimate, especially with her husband watching.

“I’ve got it.” Juniper took the glass and held it to Celine’s lips herself, her voice softening. “Just a sip to wet your throat before you talk.”

“Mm,” Celine hummed, taking a small, obedient sip, her eyes never leaving Juniper’s face.

“You recognized me even in this disguise?” Juniper set the glass down, a faint smile playing on her lips.

“I wouldn’t dare.” Shanley arched an eyebrow, a slow, deliberate smirk on his face. “I have no status at home. I don’t get to make decisions for her.”

Warren’s mouth twitched. The legendary leader of the Sigma Network and CEO of the Schwartz Group… was henpecked?

A short while later, Juniper removed her disguise on her own, revealing her true face.

“It’s you.” Warren’s fists tightened as he recognized her, his brow creasing. She was the young woman who had been with Shanley during his first visit. Her disguise had completely fooled him.

“What’s it to you?” Juniper said, drying her hands and arching a defiant eyebrow at him.

“Nothing,” Warren choked out, forcing a friendly smile. “Juniper, right? It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Don’t be so pleased with yourself just yet,” Juniper retorted, tossing the used paper towel into the trash. “Whether you pass the test to be my brother-in-law is still up for debate.”

And she wasn’t the only one he had to win over. There were still her brothers and sisters.
