“This is a welcome gift from Celine and me. It’s not much, just something for you to have fun with.”
Juniper glanced down at the card, her eyes scanning the balance. One zero, two zeros, three, four, five, six… So many zeros. He was trying to bribe her by appealing to her interests.
Before she could finish counting, one of her subordinates announced, “Boss, your guests have arrived.”
A moment later, Jimmie, Harold, Melvin, and Ebony Fox walked in side by side. Their footsteps were loud and rhythmic, and their combined presence was overwhelmingly powerful. None of them looked like people you’d want to cross.
Warren’s fingers tightened unconsciously, his face turning grim.
“Over here.” Juniper waved, and her three brothers and sister immediately approached.
“Ooh.” Celine, who had never seen so many strangers staring at her so intensely, hid behind Juniper in fear.
“It’s okay, Celine. They’re our brothers and sister,” Juniper said, taking Celine’s hand and introducing them gently. “They love you, just like I do.”
Seeing Celine’s condition, even though they had prepared themselves mentally, the reality of it was still a painful blow.
“Let’s not scare her,” Jimmie said with a frown.
“Right.” Juniper nodded, cleared her throat, and spoke again. “There’s someone else you should all meet. This is Warren Sherwin, the lord of Liberty Island and Celine’s husband.”
At her words, all eyes turned to the man standing beside her.
Warren stood up, shedding his usual cold and ruthless demeanor, and put on a respectable front. “I’m Celine’s husband, Warren.”
