Martin and his two sons listened to the recording in heavy, suffocating silence. By the time it ended, the color had completely drained from Martin's face.
Moments ago, he had been vehemently defending Sabrina. But with the confession playing right in front of him, there was no room left for denial. He lived with the woman; he knew her voice better than anyone.
It was undeniably her.
Martin's jaw clenched so tight his teeth ground together, his hands trembling with a sudden, violent rage.
He lunged forward to grab the tape, but Brandon was faster, snatching it off the desk and securing it in his grip.
"I can't let you take this, Dad," Brandon said coldly. "This is the original.
"If you want it, you can record a copy on your phone.
"But this original belongs to Lillian. I'm giving it to her to do with as she pleases.
"She deserves to know exactly how Sabrina destroyed her life.
"And you... you finally see exactly what kind of monster you married, don't you?
"It makes perfect sense why grandmother despised her and forbade you from marrying her. She wasn't just being difficult.
"Grandmother was an incredible judge of character. If she hated someone, there was a damn good reason for it.
"Now that all the evidence is laid out in front of you, I assume you don't have any more doubts?"
Martin couldn't argue. His face was a thunderous mask of dark, churning anger.
He truly hadn't intended for his daughter to be tortured. But Sabrina had taken the connections he set up and twisted them to inflict unspeakable cruelty on his own flesh and blood.
It forced a sickening realization upon him—if she could do this, what else had she manipulated? Martin's chest tightened with a heavy, complicated mix of guilt and fury.
Brandon and Colin practically ignored their father's internal crisis.
They were already analyzing their next move.
"Brandon," Colin started, his tone urgent. "Now that we have the truth, we can finally repair our relationship with Lillian, right?"
