Seeing the elder Blakes approaching, Leonard knew they had likely been waiting for a long time to speak with Lillian.
"I'll head inside first. Take your time," he murmured.
Lillian gave a brief nod. After Leonard went upstairs, she invited the couple into the glass conservatory in the back garden.
The staff quickly brought out tea and pastries. Lillian looked at the elderly couple; they both looked incredibly haggard.
Given their age, and having been dragged through sheer chaos from last night all the way to this afternoon, they were clearly exhausted.
Old Mr. Blake, in particular, had dark circles under his eyes and looked incredibly frail.
He had undoubtedly unleashed a massive amount of rage at the wedding today, and the physical toll was glaringly obvious.
"Have you two had lunch yet?" Lillian asked.
She noticed their lips were dry and their complexions were pale.
Enduring this level of stress at their age was incredibly damaging to their health.
However, Lillian had absolutely no regrets about exposing the truth to them. They needed to know what they were dealing with.
Old Mr. Blake sighed heavily. "With a disaster like this, how could we possibly have an appetite?"
Old Mrs. Blake nodded in agreement. "Lillian, thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for us."
"Let's not talk about that right now," Lillian said softly. "My kitchen is always stocked. No matter what happens, you have to eat, and you have to eat on time.
Especially at your age. Skipping meals while dealing with this much stress will only make you feel worse."
With a subtle wave of her hand, a staff member stepped forward.
"Have the kitchen prepare two nutritious meals, and make it quick," Lillian instructed.
"Right away," the staff member replied, hurrying off to the kitchen.
Lillian turned back to the couple and poured them each a fresh cup of tea.
"Have some water first to soothe your throats."
Both of them looked awful. Judging by their dry lips, they probably hadn't had a single drop of water since the morning.
The couple didn't refuse her hospitality.
