Sylvia arrived at the location Grace had sent around two in the afternoon. It was a small estate nestled against a mountain, with a stream running alongside it—a truly beautiful setting.

As she entered, she saw several villas scattered across the grounds, with a three-story library at the center and expansive lawns and gardens all around.

A young man in a white athletic shirt drove up in a golf cart to meet her. He grinned, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. “Hi, Ms. Jarvis. I’m Jonas, one of Professor Quintin’s students. I’m here to pick you up.”

As he spoke, he took her suitcase and loaded it onto the cart.

“Hello, I’m Sylvia.”

She greeted him and got into the cart, which then headed toward the villa at the far end of the property.

Inside the villa, Jonas said with a smile, “Professor Quintin is teaching right now. She asked me to get you settled in first.”

“Of course,” Sylvia replied with a gentle smile. “We look about the same age, and I consider myself half a student of Professor Quintin’s as well. Please, there’s no need for formalities. Just call me Sylvia.”

Jonas beamed. “You’re right! We’re all friends here.”

He carried her suitcase upstairs. As they ascended the staircase, Sylvia noticed that the door to a sunny, ground-floor bedroom was ajar, and a maid was tidying the room.

She turned and asked, “Is someone else coming?”

Jonas glanced over and scratched his head. “Another one of the Professor’s friends just arrived. I’m not sure if he’ll be staying the night, but she had us prepare the room just in case.”

Sylvia nodded slightly, not giving it much thought, and continued up to the second floor.

After setting down her luggage, Jonas checked the time. “Professor Quintin should be finishing her class around now. Shall we go over?”

Sylvia agreed and followed him back downstairs.

Outside the villa, they crossed the lawn toward the library. “The villa next to yours is where Professor Quintin is staying,” Jonas explained, pointing. “There are four of us students, including me, staying in the front villa. The children are staying over there as well.”
