“Estelle, I haven’t said a word,” Lambert immediately protested.
Estelle shot him a look, and he fell silent.
With everyone quiet, Jonathan’s phone rang. He glanced at it and said to Estelle, “I need to take this. Go ahead and order. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay,” she nodded.
Jonathan left with his phone.
Lambert’s eyes darted around, and he stood up. “I’m going to the restroom,” he announced to Estelle, and he too left the room.
Now, it was just Estelle and Manley.
“Stop deliberately provoking him,” she said.
Manley gave her a devilish smile. “I’m just reminding him that he’s not the only one looking out for you. A little insecurity never hurts.”
“I don’t need that,” she said, looking at him with weary fondness.
Manley sighed. “Fine, I’ll listen to you. I won’t provoke him anymore. But don’t you know that my mere presence by your side will always upset Jonathan? Are you going to cut me off and never speak to me again just to keep him happy?”
“No,” Estelle shook her head.
He smiled. “So, it’s an unsolvable puzzle, isn’t it?”
Estelle’s gaze softened. “You should get a girlfriend,” she said seriously.
Manley nearly spit out his juice. Estelle quickly handed him a napkin.
He took it with a glare. “Don’t you dare say things like that. You can’t stab me in the heart just for Jonathan’s sake.”
