Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2968

Gabriel replied to her voice message, his deep, magnetic voice resonating from the phone, “Eat a bit more—you’ve lost weight again.”

Sylvia raised an eyebrow. [Have I?]

Gabriel: [You feel lighter when I hold you.]

Sylvia: [Ever since I tasted Mr. Carnes’s cooking that day, nothing else has appealed to me—I’ve lost my appetite for everything else, so it’s not surprising I’ve lost weight.]

Gabriel: [I’ll cook for you this weekend.]

Sylvia sent a sticker of a kitten hugging a fish, looking utterly satisfied.

Gabriel: [Enjoy your meal.]

Sylvia set her phone aside and focused on her lunch, finding the food especially delicious today.

That afternoon, Sylvia was called into a last-minute meeting. By the time she walked out of the conference room, it was nearly time to finish work. Milanda approached her and said, “Boss, Claire is here!”

Sylvia arched an elegant eyebrow. “Where?”

Milanda gestured behind her. “In the reception lounge!”

Sylvia nodded slightly and headed for the lounge.

Inside, Claire was seated in a sharp business suit, her left leg tucked back and her right leg resting over her left knee, the tip of her shoe tapping the ground—her entire posture radiating confidence and impatience. Her fingertips drummed on the armrest, and her expression was less than pleasant.

Sylvia knocked softly on the door and smiled. “Claire!”

Claire turned around, uncrossed her legs, and stood up. “Ms. Jarvis!”

“I don’t care if you did it for money or ambition. But I will not allow anyone to break the rules, to resort to underhanded competition, and turn our industry into a complete mess!”

Claire’s speech was full of impassioned conviction, and she spoke with righteous indignation.

Throughout, Sylvia’s expression remained gentle and composed. Only when Claire finished did she let out a light laugh: “You won’t allow it? If I hadn’t spent the entire day in my office, I’d almost think I was in your company right now, listening to you lecturing your own employees.”

Claire stood tall. “I’ve been running a PR firm much longer than you have. To put it plainly, I’m considered a leader in J City’s PR circle, so I think I have every right to come here and offer you some advice.”

Sylvia replied, “When someone is helpless in the face of their own failure and turns to moralizing just to restrain or attack an opponent, fairness no longer exists.”

Claire scoffed. “If everyone in PR tried to win business with seduction, then anyone could do it. The only reason others don’t is because they still have a sense of ethics.”

Sylvia chuckled. “Are you sure you haven’t, Claire? As far as I know, you’ve tried more than once to approach Mr. Bard—even dropping all kinds of flirtatious hints. The only reason it didn’t go anywhere… is because you failed!”
