Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2979

“No need!” Xavier immediately refused. “I don’t like cats.”

Whether a cat lived or died had nothing to do with him.

Norah’s enthusiasm wasn’t dampened in the slightest. She confidently declared, “You’ll come to like her!”

“I won’t.”

“Yes, you will!”

Xavier didn’t bother getting into a meaningless back-and-forth with her and simply fell silent.

Norah, however, took his silence as her victory, her face beaming with joy.

When they arrived at the Midnight Bar, the party was lively—everyone was egging Gabriel and Sylvia on to link arms and drink together. The couple played along with good grace, and then Josiah James brought over a cherry tied to a string, trying to get them both to bite it together, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Xavier walked in, and Josiah immediately called out, “Mr. Flemmings, you hold the string!”

Since their fight, the two had actually become closer than most, united by that strange camaraderie that sometimes comes from a tussle.

Gabriel was calmly seated on the couch and glanced over at them.

Carson laughed and joked, “Isn’t Josiah just giving Xavier the chance to deliver the cherry directly to Gabriel?”

Josiah grinned, “I’m just offering Xavier the perfect chance for a little payback!”

Everyone watched Xavier expectantly, curious to see what he’d do.

Xavier flatly refused, “My expertise is in precision—I might just do what Mr. Foster said and send it straight into his mouth.”

Everyone burst out laughing.

After that, the group sang, played cards, and drank together until eleven that night.

“All right, everyone quiet down for a second!” Josiah called out suddenly. “I have something important to announce!”

The room quieted immediately as all eyes turned toward him.

Josiah pulled Amiee Jordan close and declared triumphantly, “I’m going to be a dad! Congratulate me!”

Amiee nodded. “That’s likely.”

In the midst of the excitement, the only ones staying silent were Jonathan, seated on the couch, and Morrison Langston, facing him from across the table.

Morrison poured Jonathan a drink and raised his glass—a gesture that said it all.

Jonathan took a sip, then commented coolly, “Ella and I will wait until after the wedding to have children—there’s no rush. But Mr. Langston, you might be the one who should be concerned.”

Morrison raised an eyebrow, his expression refined and dignified. “If I remember right, Mr. Lamont, you and Estelle have been married for seven years now?”

Jonathan took another sip. “If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been with Ms. Sampson even longer.”

Morrison replied smoothly, “But I’m two years younger than you, Mr. Lamont. I still have time.”

Jonathan countered, “I don’t think this has anything to do with age.” He seemed to recall something and turned to look at Gabriel.

Gabriel, always exuding a cool and distant aura, met his gaze and lifted his glass. “Let’s have a toast.”

This time, none of the three men spoke further—they simply clinked their glasses and finished their drinks in unison.
