Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2984

Edwina paused, then offered a sincere smile. “That would definitely be Emily—she’s more capable than I am!”

Adelaide arched an eyebrow. “I don’t agree. You’ve been with the company longer than she has. You have more seniority, more experience as a designer, and you’re steady and dependable. Those are qualities I really appreciate.”

Edwina’s face lit up with delight. “Thank you for your vote of confidence, Adelaide!”

Adelaide gave a brief frown. “But since I’m new to the company, I’ll need to consult Cedric on a lot of matters. He may be more inclined to support Emily.”

A shadow of disappointment crossed Edwina’s excited face, but she quickly smiled again. “That’s alright. I’m still young, and there will be more opportunities in the future. I’ll just work harder.”

Adelaide nodded approvingly. “I’ll do what I can to help you!”

Gratitude shone in Edwina’s expression.

“Alright, back to work,” Adelaide said kindly. “I’m still settling in myself, and I hope we’ll have a great time working together. If you have any questions, just come to me any time!”

“Of course. I’ll do my very best to support you, Adelaide,” Edwina replied with genuine warmth.

Adelaide nodded in satisfaction.

As Edwina was heading to the door, Adelaide called out behind her, “Edwina Edgar Bishop, before I arrived, was the company planning to have Cedric take the director position?”

Edwina turned back and nodded instinctively. “Yes, that was discussed.”

“No wonder,” Adelaide said, a subtle smile on her lips. “I suddenly parachuted in and took Cedric’s role—how does everyone feel about that?”

Edwina replied immediately, “Everyone likes you very much, Adelaide. No one has had any objections.”

Adelaide smiled. “And Emily?”

Edwina hesitated, then said, a little uncertainly, “Emily… should be happy about it, too.”

“Alright, I understand,” Adelaide responded with a gentle smile.

Mr. Greco then showed Emily some information about his development, explained his requirements, and asked how long she would need to complete the design.

Before Emily could answer, Adelaide cut in, “Ms. Emily is experienced and highly capable. Two days should be more than enough. I guarantee Mr. Greco will have the design draft on his desk by Monday.”

Padgett frowned, shooting a glance at Adelaide.

Emily, too, was surprised—such a large-scale project would normally need at least two weeks, yet Adelaide had only given her two days.

Mr. Greco’s face lit up with delight. “So quickly? That’s fantastic! We’re on a tight deadline, so I’m glad we came to you!”

Adelaide smiled. “Ms. Emily certainly won’t disappoint you, Mr. Greco.”

“Excellent, excellent!” Mr. Greco nodded repeatedly. “Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Emily!”

At this point, Emily couldn’t possibly contradict Adelaide in front of everyone. She smiled and responded, “If there are any issues, I’ll reach out to you, Mr. Greco.”
