"Then I'll just have to call the cops!" Norah Lamont declared.
The tattooed man scowled. "You're just a waitress, what are you so arrogant for? Asking for your WhatsApp is a compliment!"
Norah glared at the man. Seeing him continue to cause a scene, she shouted, "Mr. Flemmings, someone's trashing your place!"
Xavier Flemmings quickly emerged from the back kitchen. Dressed in a black T-shirt, his tall, muscular frame instantly made the air in the room feel heavy and cold.
He cast a freezing gaze at the tattooed man. The guy felt a chilling, bone-deep dread wash over him, his spine tingling as he instinctively took a step back.
Norah pointed at the man. "He refuses to pay his bill unless I give him my number."
Hearing the commotion, the tattooed man's friends stood up to see what was going on. Every single one of them looked like a street thug.
Zachary, Damian, and the rest of the crew filed out from the back courtyard. Damian was already an intimidating, rugged guy, and Zachary was even worse—mainly because he was casually gripping a heavy chef's knife.
The tattooed man's buddies exchanged nervous glances and quickly sat back down, pretending nothing was happening.
Xavier pulled out his phone and stepped up to the instigator. "Come on. Add me. Let's chat."
The tattooed man went pale with terror. He scrambled to pull out his phone, paid the bill, and scurried out the door with his crew tucked behind him.
Damian scoffed. "Cowards. Next time some shameless jerk tries that, don't even waste your breath. Just call me!"
Norah smiled dismissively. "Will do!"
Xavier gave Norah a lingering look before turning on his heel and heading back to the kitchen.
Zachary followed him. Seeing Xavier's expression remain dark, he chuckled good-naturedly. "The guy didn't even touch Norah. Why are you still mad, boss?"
Xavier's tone was flat. "She shouldn't even be here."
With her background, she never should have been subjected to such insults, let alone cross paths with street trash like that.
Zachary laughed. "It's fine! We'll protect her!"
