Adrian froze, his hands stopping their movements as he stared at Norah in shock.
Norah was just as confused. "What did you tell my mom about me?"
Adrian asked tentatively, "Xavier... You don't know him?"
Norah looked thoughtful, but ultimately said with absolute certainty, "No, I don't!"
Shock flashed through Adrian's eyes, but he quickly covered it up with a casual smile, acting as if he suddenly understood. "Ah, I remembered wrong. He's a friend of mine. You really haven't met him."
Norah was still puzzled and pressed, "Then why did you just say you told my mom about him and me? What happened with us?"
Adrian's mind raced. "It's just... he wanted to come work at the company, and I wanted you to mentor him for a bit. I hadn't told you yet, so I wanted to get Janice's opinion first."
Norah finally smiled. "Why would you ask my mom about work stuff? He's your friend, so it's no problem. I can show him the ropes."
Adrian couldn't see any trace of faking on her face. He had a lot of questions in his heart but didn't dare ask. He quickly handed her the peeled apple and changed the subject.
Adrian didn't mention this to Janice; he couldn't figure it out himself.
It wasn't until two days later that the Lamont family noticed the problem.
Simon Hanson had wanted to visit Norah early on. Now that her condition had finally stabilized, he eagerly called Xavier to come with him.
Simon roughly knew the cause and effect of Norah's injury. He felt that Xavier owed Norah and should come to apologize.
Xavier had desperately wanted to see Norah all along, but he was afraid his presence would upset her and affect her recovery.
As soon as he got the call today, he immediately drove to the hospital.
In the hospital room, Estelle and Jonathan were both present. After the Hanson family entered, the elders exchanged pleasantries before walking into the ward.
