Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 282

The building was still brightly lit, standing like an immovable beast in the night.

If someone wanted to play games, she didn’t mind helping Damien out.

After all, she was now the archivist with a “God’s-eye view.”

Grace hailed a taxi and headed straight for Silvergale Computing.

Meanwhile, in the top-floor conference room of the Clarke family headquarters.

The atmosphere was suffocating.

Damien sat at the head of the table, his long fingers tapping a slow, deliberate rhythm on the polished surface.

On either side of the conference table sat the shareholders and executives of the Clarke family.

One of them, a portly middle-aged man, was ranting and sputtering, pointing at the news article displayed on the large screen.

“Mr. Clarke, this is all over the business circles! Our competitors are laughing at us!”

“That woman, Grace, she’s a jinx! First academic fraud, then plagiarism accusations. Have you forgotten? The Hart family went bankrupt because of her! How can you, for her sake…”

“A jinx?”

Damien spoke suddenly. His voice wasn’t loud, but it silenced the entire room in an instant.

He lifted his gaze, his eyes landing coldly on the portly man.

“Who gave you the nerve to speak about her that way?”

The man flinched under his stare, but with someone powerful backing him, he pushed on. “Mr. Clarke, I’m just thinking of the company! The word on the street is that you’re… that you’re letting a pretty face cloud your judgment! If you can’t handle your private affairs, I’m afraid…”

“Afraid of what?”

Damien let out a soft laugh, but the mirth didn’t reach his eyes.

“Afraid you’ll have me removed?”

He stood up, slowly adjusting his cuffs.

“Felix.”

“Sir.” Felix, who had been standing in the shadows, stepped forward.
