As Grace Hart listened, the suffocating gray clouds in her mind miraculously began to clear.
She was right.
Being understanding was absolute garbage.
She had played the perfectly understanding, submissive wife for the Ward family for five years, and what did it get her?
Contempt. Humiliation. Being tossed out into the street.
She was Grace Hart now. The head of Graceline Technologies. A billionaire's wife.
Why the hell was she still acting like a timid victim?
If Damien Clarke wouldn't talk? Then she would make him talk.
"Grandma..."
Grace lifted her chin, a new fire in her eyes. "I know exactly what I need to do."
"That's my girl!"
Old Mrs. Clarke nodded in deep satisfaction. "Now, let's eat!"
Meanwhile.
Damien threw open the front door of his villa, only to find the house dead silent.
"Where is my wife?!"
He grabbed the maid, who had just returned from buying groceries, his voice dark with panic.
"M-Ma'am took Gianna to the main estate," the maid stammered, terrified. "She said she was going to visit your grandmother."
The main estate?
Damien exhaled a sharp breath of relief.
But before his heart rate could even settle, his phone rang.
It was his grandmother.
Damien answered instantly. "Grandma, is Grace with you?"
"Hmph!"
A cold sneer greeted him. "So what if she is? You actually have the nerve to ask? Damien Clarke, you've really outdone yourself! Leaving your wife and child to rot at home while you run off playing the lone superhero?"
Damien pinched the bridge of his nose. "Grandma, it's complicated..."
"Complicated, my foot!"
The old woman roared with the lungs of a drill sergeant. "Get your ass over here right now!"
"Beep—"
Damien stared at the black screen, letting out a defeated sigh.
There was no escaping this firing squad.
