Jade paused and turned back, her face an unreadable mask.
“When did I ever say I was coming here to help you?”

With that final word, she walked out, the sounds of their muffled screams and curses echoing through the station walls.
“Jade! You b*tch! You’ll regret treating us like this when we get out!”
“Jade! Get back here right now and pay our bail!”
Jade didn’t look back. Once outside, she did some quick research and learned that Chloe was having coffee at a high-end cafe nearby.
She drove to the location, a refined establishment filled with the soft, elegant sounds of a grand piano. Jade scanned the room and locked onto Chloe instantly.
She walked over and slid into the chair opposite her.
“Chloe. Let’s have a talk.”
Chloe looked up, her expression freezing the moment she recognized her visitor.
“I was wondering who was bothering me. Oh, it’s just you, Jade. How did you track me down? Is there a reason for this intrusion?”
“I think you’re perfectly aware of why I’m here.”
Jade glanced at the expensive gourmet pastries on Chloe’s table and the meticulously applied makeup on her face, noting the lack of concern.
“I hear you and Robert are practically engaged. Yet, while your future family is rotting in a jail cell because of your ‘advice, you’re sitting here enjoying dessert. Doesn’t that strike you as a bit inconsistent?”
“I didn’t egg them on!” Chloe’s voice quickened, her volume rising as if to drown out her own guilt. “They wanted to defend your honor. I have nothing to do with their arrest!”
Jade pinned her with a lethal, steady stare.
“Nothing to do with you? You were the one who ‘spotted’ Amara and leaked the location. You were the one who suggested they reclaim the house in my name. Every word was yours. You

can’t wash your hands of this now.”

Under Jade’s relentless pressure, the color drained from Chloe’s face until she looked like a ghost.
Then, Jade leaned in and dropped a psychological bomb.
“Amara put you up to it, didn’t she? You’re her puppet. What exactly does she have on you?”
Chloe’s pupils contracted with visible terror, her eyes wide with shock.
She had assumed that without Hudson as a shield, Jade would be a helpless, hysterical wreck.
She figured Jade would just roll over and accept the blame for the chaos.
But the woman sitting across from her was far more dangerous and perceptive than Cindy or Robert had ever described.
Robert always said Jade was a motherless waif who was easy to step on.
But this woman, who cut through lies with surgical precision and didn’t waste a single word, was anything but a victim.
Jade watched Chloe’s panic reach a fever pitch.
She slowly rose from her seat, her eyes locked onto Chloe’s.
“I hit the mark, didn’t I? How did Amara-”
“Stop!”
Chloe let out a sharp shriek, cutting her off.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! I have to go, Jade. Enjoy your afternoon!”
She bolted from the table, grabbing her designer bag in a frantic blur.
In her haste, she accidentally knocked over a glass of water on the table.
Bang-
The glass shattered against the floor, shards flying everywhere in the quiet cafe.
Despite the scene, Chloe didn’t even look back; she wasn’t just walking away, she was fleeing for her life.
