Amara suddenly blurted out, her voice vibrating with a frantic certainty.

“The woman who followed me from the Riverside villa to this club-it was Jade Merchant!”
She recalled seeing a car trailing her at a distance the moment she left her driveway.
At the time, she thought it looked like Jade’s vehicle, but she had dismissed it as paranoia.
Furthermore, she knew Jade had already been interrogating Chloe for information.
A confrontation was the logical next step for her.
How had she not realized it sooner?
“Jade?”
Lyndon knit his brows in a dangerous line.
“Hudson’s wife?”
“That’s her!” Amara walked over and wrapped her arms around Lyndon’s neck.
“Lyndon, we cannot let her live! She knows about us now! If those photos get to Hudson and he starts digging, he’ll find out the truth about Ronald. Ronald saved his life once! When the Walters and the Faiths find out, they will hunt us to the ends of the earth!”
Lyndon narrowed his eyes, a thoughtful, lethal chill dancing in his gaze.
“What exactly are you suggesting?”
A dark shadow crossed Amara’s eyes, her voice turning into a freezing whisper.
“Order a permanent silence.”
Inside the third-floor suite.
Julian Foster calmly ladled a bowl of hot clam chowder for Jade.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Eat this and warm up.”
Jade had zero appetite, but given Julian’s kindness, she accepted the bowl with a quiet thank

you.
“Thank you, Mr. Forster.”
She took a few mechanical sips, her mind a chaotic whirlwind. She couldn’t even taste the food.
She had always believed Amara Hoyt was desperately in love with Hudson-that she was just a woman fighting for her man.
But now, the reality was far more twisted and dangerous.
Julian sat across from her, watching her lose herself in thought without interrupting. When a hint of color finally returned to her cheeks, he stood up and grabbed his jacket.
“Let’s go. I’m driving you home.”
Jade set the spoon down and shook her head gently.
“There’s no need. You’ve already saved me tonight. I can manage on my own.”
Another refusal?
Julian’s brows pinched slightly.
“Ms. Merchant, I have to ask you something.”
Jade looked up. “What is it?”
“I may be a few years older than you, but I’m not ancient. Why do you always insist on using those formal manners with me?”
Jade froze, then realized her mistake as a faint blush touched her cheeks.
“I apologize. It was simply out of respect for your position…”
She caught herself and added quickly.
“I won’t use them anymore.”
Julian seemed pleased with the answer, a small, genuine smile lighting up
his eyes.
“I should still drive you. It’s late, and this neighborhood isn’t safe for a woman alone.” “Truly, I’m fine. My car is parked nearby. I’ll just drive back,” Jade said, still not wanting to be a

burden to him.
Julian’s hand paused on his keys, but he didn’t push her.
“Then be careful. Send me a message the moment you’re inside your apartment.”
Jade nodded. “I will.”
She stood up and gave him a small, sincere smile.
“Thank you again, Mr. Forster. Dinner is on me next time.”
The radiance of her smile caught him off guard for a second, his heart giving a small, unfamiliar jolt.
“I’ll hold you to that.”
Jade gave him a final nod and headed for the door, where Jeff was waiting with a server.
“Ms. Merchant, I’ll have someone escort you out the side exit. It’s much more secure.”
“Thank you.”
Jade offered her thanks and followed the server into the labyrinth of back hallways.

Once she was safely out of sight, Jeff sauntered back over to Julian and snapped his fingers.
“Hey! She’s gone. Come back to reality.”
