Hudson stepped to Jade’s side. Seeing her so utterly broken, he felt as if a giant hand were crushing his heart. He could barely breathe.

“Jade… this is my fault. I am so, so sorry…”

He reached down to grab her wrist, trying to stop her from mutilating her own hands.

Jade looked up. In that moment, she saw Amara Hoyt standing behind Hudson, a smug, triumphant smirk on her face. Amara’s lips moved silently, mouthing a single word.

Loser.

That smile and the sight of her mother’s scattered remains were the sparks that ignited a forest fire in Jade’s brain.

Jade’s eyes filled with a lethal, bottomless hate. She lunged from the floor, a blur of motion, and locked her hands around Amara’s throat.

“Amara Hoyt! I will kill you!”

“Aack!”

The sudden lack of air made Amara let out a strangled shriek of terror.

Jade slammed her against the balcony railing, pinning her back until her feet left the ground. One more shove and she would have plummeted to the floor below.

In that moment, Amara saw it-the genuine, cold-blooded intent to kill.

Amara was bold, but she was a coward at heart. She wasn’t willing to bet her life on this.

“Hudson! Hudson!”

She sobbed, her eyes bulging as she pleaded for help..

The sound only made Jade squeeze harder. She shoved Amara further over the edge.

“Waaah!”

“Amara!”

“Mommy!”

The cries of the man and the child rang out together.

In the next heartbeat, Hudson’s arms wrapped around Jade’s waist, hauling her back with a violent jerk. At the same time, he caught Amara and pulled her back from the railing.

Thud.

Chapter 183 The Vow of Vengeance

Amara collapsed onto the floor, gasping for air and clutching her bruised throat.

Jade was blind with rage, trying to lung again, but Hudson held her tight, his hand stroking her trembling shoulder.

“Jade, calm down! Please, just look at me and breathe!”

Jade bit her lip until the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth. The hate in her eyes was a physical force, ready to explode.

Hudson, thinking he’d finally calmed her down, loosened his grip slightly.

“Jade, this was my mistake. Blame me. Amara didn’t know anything. She’s innocent in this.”

Jade dug her nails into Hudson’s arm, then suddenly let go and wrenched herself free. She spun around and delivered a devastating slap to his face.

The blow carried every ounce of her strength. Her own fingers went numb, and five vivid red marks bloomed on Hudson’s cheek.

Jade glared at him with bloodshot eyes, her voice a low, lethal hiss.

“Of course it’s your fault! Do you think you’re off the hook?”

Every word felt like it was dragged through broken glass, dripping with absolute loathing.

“I told you… if anything happened to her while she was in your hands, I would never let it go. You just wait. One day, I will make you spend every waking second in regret!”

Her hatred was so vivid, so tangible.

It was a mirror reflecting the ruin of everything Hudson and Amara held dear.

For the first time, Hudson couldn’t meet her eyes. A wave of panic washed over him. He looked away, his voice small.

“Jade… I know. I’ll make it up to you. I’ll do anything.”

Jade didn’t answer. She knelt back down, meticulously picking up every blood-stained ceramic shard and cradling them in her palms. She stood up and began to walk, her steps heavy and mechanical.

At the top of the stairs, she stopped and looked back at the pair.

“You destroyed her. You wouldn’t even let her rest in death. I am going to destroy you!”

Jade walked out of the villa and through the gates of Grandview Estate. The phone in her pocket began to ring.

She didn’t answer. She kept walking, her face a ghostly mask. She was a puppet with its strings cut, a hollow shell of a woman.

The phone kept ringing, persistent and loud, but she didn’t hear it..

Suddenly, the screech of tires echoed beside her.

A man’s voice, thick with panic, broke through the fog.
