From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 213

The conversation between Chloe and Robert continued to drift over.

"I heard her mother's urn got smashed, and because of that, she aborted the Walter heir. If it were me, I'd have kept the kid to secure a life of luxury. Now she's aborted the baby and got nothing. What was the point?"

Robert spoke bluntly, "Who knows? Jade's never been the sharpest tool in the shed. It's normal for her to do something so irrational."

Jade's fingers curled into tight fists at her sides, the pain of her nails digging into her palms forcing her to stay calm.

From Chloe's tone, she seemed to know a lot about her business.

The urn, the abortion...

But Robert didn't even seem to know the details. How did Chloe find out?

Jade immediately thought of the only other person involved: Amara Hoyt.

During the last incident at the Riverside District villa, Chloe and Amara had worked together.

Based on her earlier probing, Jade was fairly certain Amara had some dirt on Chloe.

As for what that dirt was, she didn't know yet.

Thinking back, how did Amara know her mother's ashes were in a porcelain urn?

And how did Cortney just "happen" to pick it up to play with and smash it?

She had thought it was just a terrible accident, but now she realized it was likely a cold, calculated setup.

Amara's goal was to drive her away from Hudson so she could marry him and use the Walter family's power to cover up the fact that she and Lyndon had killed Ronald.

As Jade pieced everything together, her mind became clearer than ever.

Everything Amara did was built on stepping over her, even stepping over her mother's ashes to achieve her goal.

She had to gather evidence quickly. That way, she could divorce Hudson and expose Amara's crimes to the world.

She would never let Amara win!

Up ahead, as Chloe walked away, she suddenly felt a chill on the back of her neck, as if something were watching her. She couldn't help but shiver.

Robert asked caringly, "Chloe, are you cold? Do you want my jacket?"

Chloe shook her head and hurried Robert along.

"No, I'm just hungry. Let's go to the restaurant and order."

As she walked, she kept glancing back uneasily, but the parking lot was empty.

Yet the sense of dread in her heart kept growing, as if something big was about to happen.

Upstairs, in the middle of lunch, Chloe was distracted and completely out of it. Even the oblivious Robert noticed.

"Chloe."

He placed his hand over hers, asking with concern.

"What's wrong with you today? Is the food not good? You don't seem happy."

Chloe forced a weak smile. "It might just be my time of the month. I'm not feeling great, and my mood is a bit off."
