From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 256

"Liar! You're lying!" Amara shrieked, her voice high and desperate.

"Hudson would never believe a word you say!"

A cold light flickered in Jade's eyes. "He might not believe the truth, but if I tell him I'm about to end your life, do you think he'll still take his time getting here?"

Amara ground her teeth. "You—"

Thud—

Jade seized the moment and lunged, knocking Amara aside and wrenching the knife from her grip.

Nearby, Jewell saw her opening and bit down hard on the hand of the guard holding her. The man let out a cry of pain, his grip faltering just long enough for her to slip away.

The guards scrambled to recapture her, but Jade stepped in, her blade slashing across the nearest man's arm. He recoiled, and Jade grabbed Jewell, bolted for the exit.

Amara, sprawled on the floor from the impact, watched them disappear. She turned back to the frozen guards, her face contorting with rage.

"What are you waiting for? Get them!"

The guards snapped into action, charging after the two women.

Amara scrambled to her feet and followed, her heart hammering against her ribs.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Just then, her phone began to vibrate relentlessly.

Amara ignored it. Her fury at Jade and Jewell was a physical heat, a singular obsession to drag them back and finish what she started.

On the other end of the line, Lyndon Spenser had dialed Amara a dozen times without an answer.

"God d*mn it!"

Lyndon kicked over a trash can in a fit of rage.

Beside him, Victor asked, "What happened?"

"I just got word. Amara led Jade to the cellar, but Hudson Walter is right on their heels..."

Lyndon paced the small room, lighting a cigarette with shaking hands, his irritation boiling over.

"That absolute idiot!

"She must have slipped up and let Hudson track her."

Victor couldn't stay seated. He stood up, his face pale.

"If she gets caught red-handed by Hudson, we're finished too.

"We have to intercept Hudson first. If he gets to her, it won't just be the Faith family looking for blood—he'll tear us apart himself." Lyndon hadn't crossed Hudson directly before, but he knew the man's reputation. Hudson was not someone to provoke.

Victor thought fast. "Send out a few cars to block Hudson's route. Buy us some time."

Lyndon was about to agree when his phone rang again.

He answered, and whatever the caller said made his face turn a ghastly, bruised shade of grey.

Victor felt a surge of dread. "Now what?"

Lyndon took a long drag of his cigarette and let it out in a shaky breath.

The fury finally won out, and he let out a jagged curse.

Idiot. A complete and utter idiot!
