Bert turned and stormed out, looking like a man at the end of his rope. But the moment the door shut behind him, his expression turned to ice.

He caught his assistant's eye in the hallway.

The man nodded, clutching a stack of documents as he hurried into the CEO's office. He dropped them on Hudson's desk.

"Sir, the board is breathing down our necks. These need your signature immediately. Please, hurry."

Hudson reached for his pen. The assistant moved to help.

"I'll flip them for you to save time."

The man held the corner of the pages, flipping them quickly so only the signature lines were visible.

Hudson didn't think twice. This was Bert's right-hand man; their interests were aligned. He wouldn't sabotage him.

He signed page after page, his mind already back on the project crisis.

The second the last line was signed, the assistant snatched the folder up.

"Thank you, sir. I'll take these to the Chairman now."

Hudson had already picked up the next file. "Fine."

The assistant walked straight to the Chairman's office.

"It's done, sir."

Bert pulled the divorce agreement from the middle of the stack. Looking at Hudson's signature at the bottom, a dark, satisfied shadow crossed his face.

"Let's go. We're going to see Jade."
