Hudson stopped mid-motion, his gaze searching hers with a deep, dark confusion.

“Jade… are you pushing me away because you’re terrified that if I get close, you won’t want to leave?” D
Jade was left speechless.
She looked at him as if he were truly, dangerously out of his mind.
“Terrified? No. I’m sickened. Looking at you makes me want to vomit for three days straight.”
Hudson didn’t back down; he straightened up, his gaze heavy and absolute.
“Jade, your love for me wasn’t a whim; it was a lifetime. You’re lying to yourself now, but eventually, you’ll admit I’m the only one in your heart.”
Usually, Jade wouldn’t even offer a response to such arrogance.
After everything, the facts were plain to see; arguing was just a waste of breath.
But he kept cycling through the same delusion over and over…
“Are
you sure it’s me who’s lost touch with reality, Hudson?”
She stared him down; her clear eyes were a mirror reflecting every bit of his own misery back at him.
“After everything you’ve done to me, how could you possibly think I’d ever want you back?”
Hudson felt a sharp, sudden sting in his heart and looked away instinctively.
“Don’t be stubborn. Three years… no one can replace the position I have in your heart. You’ll see.”
With that, he turned and marched out of the room.
But as he stepped into the hall, his mind felt like it was shrouded in fog.
Had he truly looked at himself?
What exactly did Jade mean to him now?

Was he actually as certain of her love as he pretended to be?
What if, at the end of the day, things didn’t go the way he planned…
Hudson closed his eyes, unwilling to face the darkness of that possibility.
He took a few steps forward, then snapped his eyes open, his resolve hardening again.
No. Everything was still in his grasp.
He was a Walter; there would be no deviations from his narrative!
Hudson exited and saw Bastian sitting on the bench; he offered a final, biting insult.
“Being a tool… it must be a lonely and pathetic existence.”

Bastian didn’t even blink. “Being a man who has lost everything… that’s the real tragedy.”
Hudson’s jaw tightened, his fists clenching with a fresh surge of rage.
Bastian smirked, a cold light in his eyes as he rose from the bench.
“If you want to bleed, Mr. Walter, let’s pick a time at a boxing gym. A hospital is a bad look for a brawl.”
Hudson let out a harsh, mocking laugh.
“You think I need an appointment to take you down? You’re dreaming.”
Bastian smiled thinly. “I hope you can keep that same pride a week from now, Mr. Walter.”
Hudson gave him one last look of pure hatred and walked away without another word.
Bastian watched him leave, then pulled out his phone and dialed Anderson.
“Tomorrow, when the Walters reach out, accept the meeting. Tell their CEO if he wants to talk business, he meets me at a boxing gym in one week.”
Anderson’s voice was full of confusion.
“A gym? Sir, are you serious?”
Bastian’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “What do you think?”
Anderson’s tone dropped instantly. “Understood, sir. I’ll make the arrangements.”
