From His Ex-Wife to the World's Most Sought-After Restorer (Jade and Hudson) novel Chapter 317

Chapter 317 The Proposal

Chapter 317 The Proposal

There wasn’t a shred of empathy in his eyes, nor a single word of comfort.

Only corporate interests.

Bert Walter’s reputation and the firm’s bottom line always came first.

Hudson was used to it; he looked down and spoke in a flat, hollow voice.

“Understood.”

Ever since he took the reins of the Walter Group.

He had lost the luxury of being human; he was just a machine designed to generate profit.

Without results, he was considered useless, a broken gear in the family legacy.

Knock, knock, knock.

A sharp rap at the office door broke the heavy silence.

Hudson pulled a fresh tissue and wiped the blood from his lip and the desk.

“Come in.”

Kevin entered and immediately noticed Bert, bowing his head respectfully.

“Mr. Chairman.”

“Well?” Bert stood with his hands behind his back, looking down his nose at the assistant.

“Is there any progress on the KOE partnership?”

Kevin glanced at Hudson, and upon receiving a slight nod, he addressed Bert.

“Mr. Howell’s Chief Assistant, Anderson, just reached out. The meeting is confirmed.”

Bert’s eyes lit up, but before he could celebrate, Kevin added more.

“However, the location he chose is a boxing gym.”

A boxing gym?

Hudson’s brow furrowed into a deep canyon as he recalled Bastian Hamlet’s challenge at the hospital.

The timing was too perfect to be a coincidence.

Could it really be him?

Bert, however, saw no red flags; he assumed the foreign billionaire simply preferred unconventional settings.

“When is the appointment?”

“One week from today,” Kevin replied.

Bert nodded with satisfaction and turned back to Hudson.

“Prepare the full portfolio. I’ll be going with you to ensure this deal is signed and sealed.”

Hudson gave a curt nod, and Bert marched out of the room.

Once the door clicked shut, Kevin looked at Hudson, his voice laced with doubt.

“Sir, don’t you think a boxing gym is an incredibly strange choice for a multi-billion dollar merger?”

Hudson didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he posed his own question.

“What more do we have on this Bastian Hamlet?”

“Nothing new, sir. He’s a total enigma,” Kevin admitted.

Hudson’s gut kept telling him that Bastian and Howell were the same man.

But he forced the thought down, refusing to believe Jade could have snared someone that powerful.

He took a breath and leaned back in his leather chair.

“Strange or not, we need this deal. Get the files ready.”

Kevin nodded to leave but stopped as he remembered another task.

“By the way, sir, the ‘information’ you wanted me to leak has reached Amara Hoyt. She posted about it on social media yesterday, and now the entire city thinks you’re about to propose.”

Hudson’s lips curled into a cold, predatory smile.

“Good. Let her play her part. The more people who know, the better.”

Ding-dong. Ding-dong.

Jade stood at the front door of the Merchant villa, clutching several gift bags.

A moment later, Michael opened the door.

Seeing her, his face hardened with immediate hostility.

“What the hell are you doing here?”

Looking at his vile, disgusting face, Jade felt a wave of pure hatred surge within her. She wanted to reach into her bag and end him right there, but she held back.

A quick death was far too good for a man like him.

He had killed for money and power.

So she would strip him of every single thing he valued until he was begging for mercy.

Jade suppressed her nausea and forced her voice to soften.

“Dad.”

Michael blinked in surprise at the address. He glanced at the expensive bags in her hands. Seeing a potential olive branch, he adopted his usual arrogant, lecturing tone.

“I thought you were done with this family. Why the sudden change of heart?

“You have a lot of nerve showing your face here after that scene you made!”

Jade bit her lip, looking down with a look of feigned, heartfelt regret.

“I was being immature. I realize now that outside of my mother, you’re the only real family I have left. No matter how much we fought, you still raised me for twenty years. I shouldn’t have been so quick to walk away.”

Michael let out a self-important huff.

“At least you’ve come to your senses!”
