Chapter 72 The Drowned Ring
“Oh, right. I almost forgot. This room is the guest suite.”
Hudson looked over instinctively, his heart skipping a beat.
It was the room Jade moved into when she left the master bedroom during their fallout.
Theoretically, it shouldn’t be this empty…
An ominous premonition stirred in his chest. Hudson spun around and marched in.
“Wait, what?”
Charles followed him, confused by the sudden change in Hudson’s demeanor.
Inside, the guest suite was indeed terrifyingly empty.
Well, not exactly empty, but it had been restored to its original, sterile state.
But it hadn’t looked like this when Jade was living here.
Hudson’s gaze shot to the corner of the room on reflex.
Jade’s large suitcase usually stood right there, but now the spot was bare.
He walked to the closet, remembering Jade had a lockbox she treasured above all else.
Opening the wardrobe, he saw an indentation on the folded quilt.
Judging by the outline, it had clearly held the heavy lockbox.
But the quilt was still there while the lockbox was gone.
Charles followed Hudson in, seeing him pacing silently like a man possessed.
“You keep playing detective. I’m heading to the restroom.”
Charles entered the bathroom and noticed something strange floating in the tub.
He drew closer. Once he saw the tub full of soaked sketches and the ring, he hollered.
“Hudson! Hudson! Get in here and look at this right now!”

Chapter 72 The Drowned Ring
Outside, Hudson was already fuming over his inability to reach Jade on her phone.
Hearing Charles’s frantic shouting, he frowned but strode toward the bathroom.
“What? Do you need me to come in and help you with your fly?”
Charles snapped back with a look of pure disgust.
“You’d be better off just poisoning yourself with your own arrogance.”

Hudson said nothing. As he stepped in and saw the soaked sketchbook, his face changed.
Ignoring everything else, he lunged forward to fish the ring out of the water.
The ring featured a pink diamond chip, with the initials JN engraved inside.
It was Jade’s wedding ring…
Hudson recognized the sketchbook too; Jade used it specifically for drawing him.
Back then, Jade would sit beside him, her eyes shining with pure love.
“Hudson, I love you so much. I want to record every side of you in my heart.”
At the time, Hudson thought it was boring, but he hadn’t stopped her.
So, over three years, Jade had drawn him until the entire book was full.
She had finished the sketchbook just a month before his birthday and had shown it to him.
She said she would buy a new one for his birthday and continue drawing him.
But now, Jade had shredded those drawings and discarded her wedding ring here.
She was surgically cutting off every single thread that connected her to him…
“These are the sketches Jade drew for you and her wedding ring, right?” Charles asked.
Hudson gripped the ring until his knuckles turned white and the metal bit into his palm.
That heart of his, usually as calm as a frozen pond, felt as if life was draining away.
“I always thought… she would never actually be able to leave me…”
He whispered, clutching the ring so hard it threatened to snap, his eyes turning red.

“I didn’t realize she was dead serious.”
Charles asked him in a low voice.
“So what are you going to do now?”
