The natural wood floors and warm white walls were accented by matching wooden shelving for her supplies.
The entire space was cozy and inviting-the exact aesthetic Jade had always loved for herself.
After a quick walkthrough, Jade coordinated with Jewell, grabbed her final belongings, and officially moved in.
her cleaning lady had been meticulous; all Jade had to do was arrange her personal items to her liking.
Once the rooms were set, Jade placed a fresh bouquet of Juliet roses into a cream-colored vase.
She added two cute pink succulents and two lush pothos plants to the balcony to bring some life to the space.
She pulled back the curtains, letting the sunset spill into the room and dance across the walls in golden patches.
Jade stood by the window and took a long, steady breath.
The scent of roses and the warmth of the sun were carried in by the evening breeze.
It was the long-lost, intoxicating smell of freedom.
The weekend arrived.
Jade woke up feeling refreshed and watered her plants before making a simple breakfast and driving to the hospital.
Perhaps Hudson had actually taken her words to heart, as he hadn’t tried to contact her for several days.
Without the constant stress of his presence, her mental state had improved drastically, and even her complexion looked healthier.
She saw the same doctor as before, who praised her as he reviewed her latest charts.
“Excellent work. Every level is perfectly standard. Keep your mood light-a happy mother means an even healthier baby.”
Jade was genuinely thrilled to hear the results were so positive.

She gently stroked her abdomen, a genuine smile tugging at her lips as she thanked the physician.
“Thank you so much, Doctor.”
The doctor smiled back and waved her off.
“Go on. Just remember to come back next month for your regular prenatal checkup.”
“I will.”
Jade tucked her files into her bag and took the elevator down to the lobby.
Her expression was relaxed, and her steps had regained a certain light, rhythmic bounce.
Even though Hudson hadn’t signed the papers yet, her baby was safe and her career was moving forward-she had nothing left to fear.
The most important goal now was to seize the Harbor City opportunity and build a real foundation for her and her child’s future!
As she stepped out of the hospital, a familiar voice sliced through the air.
“Jade, what an interesting coincidence.”
Jade followed the sound and saw Amara Hoyt standing there.
In that instant, she felt Amara’s gaze drop specifically to her midsection. Jade’s body went taut as she shifted to block the woman’s view.
Amara caught the movement and let out a sharp, mirthless laugh.
“It’s just a prenatal visit. Why on earth are you trying to hide it?”
Jade’s pupils contracted in shock, her eyes filling with pure disbelief as her hand went to her
stomach.
She wasn’t actually here for a prenatal exam today, but Amara’s tone proved she had known about the pregnancy for a long time.
Amara tilted her chin up, savoring Jade’s visible panic as she drifted closer with a slow, predatory stride.

Her cold eyes flickered toward Jade’s abdomen like a snake’s tongue, making Jade’s skin crawl with revulsion.
“Or is it that you also feel this child is a disgrace that shouldn’t even exist?”
“A disgrace?”
Jade stood her ground, looking at Amara with a gaze as sharp as a diamond.
“Are you describing yourself, Amara? You’ve spent weeks pawing at a married man and even climbed into his bed. At least you have a clear sense of your own character.”
Amara’s face twisted into a snarl for a split second before she masked it with a mocking sneer.
“Why so smug? You only secured that ring because you lucked into saving Hudson’s grandfather. Hudson doesn’t love you. You think staying around will make him change his mind? You’re delusional.”
Every word was a jagged blade aimed directly at Jade’s heart.
Jade gritted her teeth, her fists clenching at her sides until they shook.
Amara saw the struggle and offered a victorious, twisted smile.
“Hudson has loved me from the start. They say the one who isn’t loved is the real ‘homewrecker…”
She paused, her eyes dropping back to Jade’s stomach before locking onto her eyes with lethal intent.
“You’re the sidepiece, and that kid in your belly is a bastard. Even if you sneak it into the world, Hudson will never acknowledge it.”
The more she spoke, the more she fed off Jade’s trembling, her eyes gleaming with dark delight.
“As far as I know, people were happy to stab you in the back when you married Hudson. Keeping this kid-haven’t you had enough of being the town’s favorite joke? Are you waiting for the birth so this illegitimate brat can be treated like a street rat? Do you want your child to be spat on everywhere they go?”
Amara never stopped scanning Jade’s face, waiting for the breaking point.
