“Apologize to Amara. No matter what she said, it doesn’t justify your vicious assault!” Hudson decided she was confessing.
Jade’s heart turned to ice, her hands clenching at her sides until her nails drew blood.
“I did nothing wrong. Why should I be the one to apologize?”
“Jade!”
Hudson was rapidly losing the last of his patience.
“I’ll say it again. No matter what happened, you had no right to treat her that way!”
Jade raised her voice, matching his intensity. “And I’m telling you, I didn’t do anything wrong. will not apologize!”
“Fine. Have it your way!” Hudson was livid, waving over two massive bodyguards immediately.
“Take Mrs. Walter to the garden. Let her cool off until she’s ready to be reasonable.”
As soon as the order was given, the guards flanked Jade and began dragging her away.
“Hudson Walter!”
Jade struggled wildly, kicking at the guards with everything she had.
“Tell them to let go of me! This isn’t my fault!”
Hudson stood perfectly still, watching her with a look of utter indifference.
“Go and apologize to her.”
Jade’s face was a mask of pure defiance.
“Never!”
Hudson saw the stubborn set of her jaw and ignored her plea, waving the guards off.
“Take her down.”
“Hudson!” Jade’s tears finally broke free, streaming down her face.

Hearing her ragged scream, Hudson felt a sudden, sharp pang in his chest, and he almost took a step toward her.
But it was only a half-step before he froze, turning away to put her out of his mind as the elevator doors closed.
In the garden.
Jade was forced to stand in the center of the manicured lawn.
She tried to walk away, but the bodyguards stood like a wall of meat, blocking every path.
“Mrs. Walter, Mr. Walter said you aren’t leaving until you’ve reflected on your actions.”
Jade knew exactly how much power these men possessed.
They were the same ones Hudson had used to try and imprison her in the villa.
She couldn’t overpower them, but she would rather die than bow her head to Amara Hoyt.
Fine then. Let’s play this game.
We’ll see who breaks first!
She didn’t believe Hudson would actually leave her out here forever.
The leaves of the plane trees were already yellow; the autumn air turned biting the moment the sun began to dip.
By now, the temperature had plummeted, and her thin shirt offered no protection against the
chill.
A cold wind whipped through the garden, making Jade shiver uncontrollably as her lips turned a pale, sickly blue.
The bodyguards remained stone-faced, ignoring her condition to carry out Hudson’s orders to
the letter.
Jade grew colder, her tremors worsening with every passing minute.
She wrapped her arms around herself, desperately trying to preserve a sliver of body heat.
Begging Hudson wasn’t even a consideration.

Hudson had made his stance perfectly clear through his actions.
To beg him would be to invite even more humiliation for herself and Amara’s benefit.
She wasn’t that pathetic; even if she froze to death tonight, she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of a single plea!
Back in the suite.
Amara finally began to stir, her eyes widening as she saw Hudson sitting by her side.
