After dinner, Shen Tang didn’t rush to sleep. She lay outside the tent, looking at the stars, a leaf shaped like a willow leaf in her mouth, blowing a tuneless song.
The deep blue sky was filled with a vast river of stars, the crescent moon resembling a small boat. Nearby beastmen had all rested, and the surroundings were so quiet that only the sounds of insects and birds could be heard. The night breeze gently brushed against her hair, allowing her to savor the beauty of the moment.
Soon, Shen Tang yawned, and a tall figure descended over her, bending down to scoop her into his arms.
As the temperature plummeted in the late night, Xue Yinzhou held Shen Tang and returned to the tent to rest.
There were still two tents left empty, more than enough for Xiao Jin, Jia Lan, and Lu Xiao.
Xue Yinzhou was full of happiness, holding the soft warmth in his arms. Just as he was thinking of doing something, the flap at the entrance of the tent was suddenly lifted, letting in a gust of cold air—
Xiao Jin barged into the tent with a complete lack of awareness and squeezed in beside Shen Tang on her left.
Xue Yinzhou’s face darkened abruptly and he spat out a word laced with killing intent, "Get out!"
"We’re all Tangtang’s beast husbands. Why should I get out?" Xiao Jin responded with an arrogant grin, revealing sharp canine teeth as his leopard tail unhappily thumped the ground.
Xue Yinzhou’s forehead twitched with a vein; if Shen Tang weren’t wedged between them, he would have had a mind to kill!
"I’ll count to three."
Xiao Jin pulled his ears back to avoid Xue Yinzhou’s hand, decisively hugging Shen Tang’s slender and soft form, "You can kill me, but I won’t let go!"
It was as if nothing could bother a dead pig in scalding water.
With a snake versus leopard battle about to kick off, Shen Tang quickly intervened, chiding, "I’m tired. If you two want to fight, do it outside. Neither of you comes back in to sleep tonight!"
At these words, the tension in the air instantly vanished without a trace. It wasn’t worth losing cuddling rights over a damned fight.
Three people were a bit crowded, but they could still manage to sleep.
The night deepened, and the campfires outside the tent gradually went out. In the latter half of the night, it got even colder. Shen Tang, dressed a bit thinly, felt a chill in her sleep and instinctively turned towards Xiao Jin on her left, snuggling closer to him.
Xue Yinzhou opened a slit of an eye, the snake’s tail wrapping around her waist, turning her back towards him before closing his eyes and going back to sleep.
A pang of pain came from her belly.
Waking up suddenly in the middle of the night, Shen Tang quickly realized something was wrong. Oh no! This familiar warm sensation...
"Tangtang, what’s wrong? Is your stomach uncomfortable?"
Xiao Jin and Xue Yinzhou were quickly awakened by the commotion. Seeing her furrowed brows, pale complexion, and her hands over her stomach, they assumed she’d gotten chilled from playing in the water today.
Suddenly, the two males caught a faintly discernible sweet and sickly scent in the air, their breathing coming to an abrupt halt.
When Lu Xiao and Jia Lan arrived, they also smelled the heavy sweet scent in the air. Feeling an unusual bodily reaction instinctively, a slight discomfort flashed across their faces.
As beast husbands, the four of them were all too aware that the female’s mating season had arrived!
