His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 578

"Is something wrong, Amy?" Niamh asked, puzzled.

"Boss, I'm so jealous of you!" Amy clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling.

Only then did Niamh realize Amy's gaze was fixed on the open gift box on her desk, the yellow diamond necklace clearly visible.

"I wish I could be as rich as you someday!"

Niamh was both amused and exasperated. "I didn't buy this," she said offhandedly.

Her casual comment only made Amy's eyes shine brighter. "So it was a gift! Whoever sent this must be truly in love with you!"

Niamh tilted her head. "What makes you say that?"

"Because love follows the money! Boss, that necklace looks crazy expensive. How could that not be proof of true love?" Amy sighed dramatically. "If a man ever gave me a necklace like that, I'd marry him on the spot."

Niamh couldn't say Amy's logic was right, but she couldn't entirely dismiss it either.

"Amy, a man who spends money on you doesn't necessarily love you."

Jonathan had certainly given her plenty of expensive gifts over the years, but he had never loved her.

"Maybe," Amy countered, "but a man who says he loves you and won't spend a dime on you definitely doesn't."

"Alright, alright, you win," Niamh said, nodding and deciding not to argue.

For most people, money was a significant measure. A willingness to spend it was often proof of affection.

But Jonathan was different. He had so much money that it was a poor yardstick for his feelings.

As Amy left, she couldn't resist one last glance at the stunning necklace.

"Jonathan!" This time, it was Sprague who barked his name.

Jonathan met his father's glare.

Sprague's eyes were a clear warning, but Jonathan simply offered a serene smile.

"Miss Quinn, I came here today because there's something I need to tell you."

Seeing Jonathan's humorless smile, Ramona felt a flicker of alarm.

"Niamh and I are divorced," Jonathan announced, pulling out the official decree.

Sprague and Marigold breathed a premature sigh of relief, which was cut short by his next sentence.

"The court awarded her everything. I was left with nothing. All my properties, cars, savings, and my entire stake in the Thomas Group... it all belongs to Niamh now."
