His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 589

Over the weekend, Niamh drove to the Sterling District to attend the grand opening of Chloe Fontaine's new store. Chloe's brand, Elixir & Co., had secured a massive, three-story storefront that was nothing short of impressive.

A royal blue Bentley pulled smoothly into a spot in the parking lot, and Jonathan was the first to step out. The surrounding area was filled with other invited guests, all of them wealthy and influential. Without exception, every one of them was surprised to see Jonathan.

News of his divorce, where he was left with nothing and had handed over the entire Thomas Group to Niamh, had spread like wildfire through the business community. They weren't surprised to see him there—he still had the rest of the Thomas family’s empire behind him—but they were shocked by his attire.

Jonathan was wearing a black, off-the-rack suit and a pair of pristine white gloves. He looked less like a tycoon who would own a Bentley and more like the tycoon’s driver. His next actions only confirmed their suspicions.

He walked around to the other side of the car and, with the deferential grace of a gentleman, pulled open the door to let the passenger out. Many of the onlookers didn’t head straight into Elixir & Co., instead lingering by their own cars to watch the Bentley, as if a major celebrity were about to emerge.

When Niamh stepped out, she immediately felt the weight of dozens of stares. She couldn't tell if they were directed at her or at Jonathan.

As they walked together, Jonathan maintained a respectful distance, staying slightly behind her like a bodyguard protecting his charge.

“Could the rumors actually be true?” someone in the crowd whispered.

“I heard Jonathan is Niamh’s assistant now.”

“Seriously?”

“Look at them. It has to be true.”

“But why? Even without The Thomas Group, the Thomas family is still powerful. Jonathan doesn’t need to stoop to being his ex-wife’s assistant.”

“You really didn’t have to come with me,” Niamh said quietly.

Chloe had always been well-connected, and the grand opening was sure to be packed with titans from every industry—people who all knew Jonathan. For him to appear before them as her assistant would only make him the subject of endless gossip.

“Thank you for being so considerate of me.” Jonathan’s magnetic voice flowed into her ear, a cool stream that reached straight to her heart.

Niamh’s expression hardened as she shot him a glare. “You’re overthinking it.”

Despite her glare, the faint, elegant smile on Jonathan's face didn't falter. In fact, it grew warmer.
