His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 661

Niamh let out a self-deprecating laugh and put the phone down. The fact that Jonathan finally remembered she was Rina from the detention center had shaken her, but she refused to believe he was the only one who could make her feel safe.

She opened a file on her desk, trying to immerse herself in work and push away the intrusive thoughts. She had just finished reviewing the third document when her phone rang. The caller ID showed Elmer.

“Hello?” Niamh answered.

“Are you still at the office?”

“Yeah, pulling an all-nighter. Work makes me happy,” she said, and was met with Elmer’s soft chuckle.

“You know, you can admit it if you’re scared.”

“…” Niamh’s fingers tightened around her phone. She remained silent. A professional hitman was after her; it would be a lie to say she wasn’t the least bit afraid. But she had done everything she could. All that was left was to hope for the best.

“Nia, I can come over and keep you company.”

“No, don’t,” Niamh immediately refused. “You and Lana have to stay far away from me right now. I’ve spent a fortune on a security team. With so many of them protecting just me, I’ll be fine… It’s you two who might be in danger if you’re around me.”

Her logic was sound, and Elmer had to agree, which was why he hadn't forced the issue earlier. But he was still worried. “Alright… then just call me whenever you feel scared. I can’t be there in person, but my voice can.”

“Okay. Thank you, Elmer…”

She had no idea that outside, in the parking lot, a deep grey Koenigsegg had been parked for the entire night. Jonathan hadn’t left his car once. Several times, he’d been tempted to go into the building and find her, but he knew she didn’t want to see him. So, he chose to watch over her from a distance.

He knew she had hired Aldenville’s best security firm, but he had also secretly embedded his own family’s agents among them to protect her. At the same time, he had deployed a massive number of his people to hunt for Joker. He refused to believe the man could just vanish off the face of the earth.

Niamh stayed at her office for three straight days, and Jonathan stayed in his car outside for three straight nights.

Today, the piano competition sponsored by Linden was finally beginning.

The Aldenville Concert Hall was packed. The entrance was a bottleneck of elegantly dressed contestants and a sea of eager spectators. They were either hoping to win the prestigious competition and make a name for themselves, or they were simply there for the spectacle.
