Niamh stared at the checkbook in front of her, then picked up the pen.
Sprague’s eyes instantly lit up. For just a simple promise of remarriage, she could gain an astronomical fortune from the Thomas family. Anyone who wasn't a fool would agree.
But just as Sprague’s expectations soared, he watched Niamh put the pen back down. The check remained blank.
“Niamh, I’ve offered everything I can. Is this still not enough for you?” Sprague asked, shocked.
Niamh shook her head. “No, that’s not it… I’ve just thought of a better way.”
“A better way?” Sprague pressed eagerly.
Niamh was silent for a moment, then gave a slight smile. “I need to go prepare.”
Under Sprague’s confused gaze, Niamh left Thomas Manor. When she returned, she was wearing a wedding gown.
Sprague, Clifford, and Hazel were all stunned. After hearing Niamh’s plan, Sprague grew worried.
“What if… what if this agitates him and makes his condition worse?”
Niamh didn’t have a sure answer to that, but with Jonathan’s current state, it was a desperate measure. In the end, Clifford decided to trust her. He had Sprague and Hazel leave the manor with him, leaving the entire estate to Niamh and the unconscious Jonathan.
If Niamh's method worked, Jonathan would surely want to be alone with her when he woke up.
The breath Niamh had been holding in her chest was finally released. She really did understand him. Clifford and Sprague had believed only the promise of remarriage could wake him. But Elmer’s mother mentioning a fake marriage had given her another idea. She could do the exact opposite.
Whether he was the rebellious boy at the juvenile rehabilitation center or the formidable tycoon in the business world, Niamh had always believed that at his core, Jonathan refused to lose. She knew that if she stood before him in a wedding dress and told him she was marrying Elmer, his instincts would compel him to wake up.
As it turned out, her gamble had paid off.
“Jonathan…”
Before she could even savor her victory, she was suddenly thrown back and pinned to the bed.
