His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 705

He walked over and stood before the display cabinet. Inside was a single ring, unpriced, looking very much like a piece not for sale.

"What's this?" Jonathan asked softly.

The store manager immediately came to his side to explain. "This is a display piece, sir, not for sale. It's a ring made with an exceptionally rare red diamond."

"A red diamond..." Jonathan's gaze fell upon the ring's main stone. Deeply colored, brilliant red gemstones were already uncommon, but red diamonds were practically unheard of. Though this one didn't look particularly large, perhaps three or four carats, its quality was superb. The cut, especially, was so perfect that it showcased the diamond's fire to its fullest extent. The band was crafted from high-purity gold, designed to look like rays of sunlight emanating from the central red diamond—a unique and captivating design.

Jonathan didn't know why he was so drawn to this ring, but he found he couldn't look away. He felt that compared to the twenty-plus rings Elmer had tried on Niamh, this red diamond ring was perhaps the one that suited her best. It wasn't ostentatiously large or gaudily decorated, but the more one looked at it, the more one could appreciate its extraordinary value and energy.

"How much?" Jonathan turned to the manager. Her professional smile faltered slightly. Hadn't she just told him it wasn't for sale?

"Mr. Thomas, this is a display piece."

"Ask your boss. I want to buy it."

"..."

While Jonathan was examining diamond rings in the NR flagship store, Niamh and Elmer were having dinner.

"You're not mad at me, are you?" Elmer asked as he poured Niamh some juice.

"No..." Niamh shook her head with a smile. "I've never worn so many rings in my life. It was kind of fun, in a way."

"What happened?" This was the first time Niamh had ever heard Quentin start a conversation with an apology.

"That red diamond ring you designed... the one on display in the cabinet... um... it was just sold."

"Sold?" Niamh was utterly confused. "But wasn't it a display-only piece?"

"Well... it's all my fault..." Quentin began to explain. It turned out the manager of the flagship store had contacted the corporate office, saying a customer wanted to buy the red diamond ring that was not for sale. The people at corporate weren't sure what to do, so they asked Quentin. He had been in a meeting at the time and had casually replied, "Red diamonds are rare. If you're going to sell it, it's at least ninety million."

"I never thought the person actually wanted to buy it, so I just threw out the number ninety million. But then the manager quoted the price to the customer, and he paid for it on the spot. He just... bought the red diamond ring you designed for display..."

"This..." Niamh's lip twitched. Who was this big-shot fool? Niamh had originally acquired the 3.6-carat rough red diamond at an auction. For the rarest of all diamonds, that was already a considerable weight.
