Arthur was entirely consumed by rage toward his two children.
He never imagined that Sebastian—the son who mirrored him so perfectly, who was supposed to surpass him—would make such a catastrophic mistake.
He had practically handed the address of their clandestine facility to an outsider.
Sure, a normal person wouldn't think twice about an old factory or discover anything out of the ordinary.
But what if?
That girl, Serena, was far too unpredictable.
Both of his children had just been utterly dismantled by the exact same person.
"Yes, Dad... I let you down."
Lying in the hospital bed, Sebastian lowered his eyes.
Hidden beneath his heavy lids was a churning, twisted hatred.
"If you know you failed me, then start figuring out our next move!" Arthur snapped, his frustration boiling over as he looked at his crippled son.
Too exhausted to lash out physically again, he pinched the bridge of his nose and collapsed heavily onto the sofa, panting.
Just then.
The heavy curtains by the hospital window billowed violently.
A man in a dark trench coat, his face obscured by a mask and a low-brimmed hat, appeared silently by the glass.
Though his features were hidden, his mere presence changed the atmosphere.
The temperature in the room instantly plummeted.
The sudden intrusion sent a shockwave through the four people in the room.
The second Arthur's eyes landed on the figure, his enraged demeanor evaporated.
His eyes widened, his arrogant posturing completely gone, replaced by a pathetic subservience.
Like a mouse terrified of a predator, he scrambled forward, bowing low with a sickeningly sycophantic smile. "Special Envoy Mordecai, w-what brings you here?"
Beneath his fawning tone lay absolute, undisguised terror.
The man in the trench coat ignored Arthur's groveling, his cold, gray eyes sweeping over the room's occupants.
There was no trace of human emotion in his gaze.
