Vaelion City, Rusty Quarters.
Isabella dragged her suitcase to a halt in front of a dilapidated apartment building—a place she found sickeningly familiar and had desperately hoped to never see again.
It looked even worse than the last time she was here.
The stairwell was pitch black and reeked of mildew.
She took a deep breath and forced herself inside.
She didn't want to be here at all.
But she had nowhere else to go.
After enduring a miserable ride on that rusty boat back to Vaelion City, Isabella had rushed straight to the high-end apartment Sebastian Doyle had set up for her.
Only to find the passcode had been wiped. She couldn't even get through the front door.
Panicked and trembling, she had dialed Sebastian's number.
When the call connected.
She was met with Sebastian's deranged, animalistic roaring and the sound of things smashing in the background.
With his legs crippled and his tendons severed, he had been reduced to a broken man—and had completely lost his mind.
"Isabella! What? Still want to be my faithful dog?!"
"Hahaha, screw the apartment! Come over here, I'll show you a good time..."
His voice was terrifying, his words disjointed.
He was clearly out of his mind.
Even on a good day, Sebastian was a psycho.
Now...
He was completely unhinged.
"Isabella, come here! Get your ass over here right now!"
That furious, bloodcurdling scream terrified her so much that she dropped her phone on the ground.
She hastily picked it up and ended the call, absolutely terrified to go near him.
With her final safety net gone.
She had no choice but to drag her heavy suitcase into the lowest slums of Vaelion City.
Back to the miserable little shack Agnes Thorne had left for her.
When Isabella arrived, she crept around cautiously, observing the area for a long time.
