He looked exactly like Arthur Doyle had, trapped in the same desperate, helpless state as he begged for his life.
Now it was his turn to weep and grovel before his Overlord.
But his pleas were abruptly cut short.
His body suddenly began to convulse violently.
His eyes bulged from their sockets, and his mouth opened and closed in rapid succession, yet no sound came out.
He clawed frantically at his own throat in sheer agony.
As he spasmed on the floor, dark blood began to pour from his eyes, nose, and ears.
A few seconds later, he went completely limp.
Serena cast a cold glance at the corpse and stated plainly, "A micro-poison sac was implanted in his body a long time ago."
She then lifted her chin, her chilling gaze meeting the shadow on the screen. "You triggered it remotely, didn't you?"
She paused, letting out a sharp, derisive scoff. "So, this is the 'terrifying entity' backing The Obsidian Sun?"
The shadow fell silent for a few seconds.
Then, he began to laugh.
The synthesized, mechanical sound was grating and deeply unsettling.
The eyes hidden within that digital darkness seemed to pierce straight through the screen, locking intensely onto Serena.
"Serena."
He called out her name.
The mechanical voice dripped with blatant mockery. "You are vastly more intelligent than your dead grandmother."
Serena's pupils dilated in shock.
Grandmother?
Old Mrs. Wynn?!
How did the mastermind behind The Obsidian Sun know Grandma Aria?
The shadow seemed immensely satisfied by her reaction, his laughter growing even more condescending. "And here I thought the great Demon of the Ghost Alliance knew everything."
"It seems you are entirely oblivious to what your late grandmother actually did."
Serena's gaze darkened significantly.
She stared at the shadow, an icy fury spreading through her eyes. "Was my grandmother's death your doing?"
The shadow neither confirmed nor denied it, merely letting out another burst of mocking laughter.
