"Hah," Serena scoffed, her eyes glinting with lazy amusement as she glanced at her. "You know exactly what you were thinking. If you're jealous, just say it. Why put on an act?"
"You're getting addicted to being a thief, aren't you? Last time you snuck into my room to steal my laptop, and this time… it's hard not to suspect you're so mad with jealousy you want to steal the gift Nicholas gave me?"
She deliberately emphasized the words "the gift Nicholas gave me."
Her direct words made Isabella’s face flush red, then turn pale.
Finally, her expression twisted into a mask of rage.
She glared at Serena’s stunning, cold face.
She was just a country bumpkin, so why did Serena always act so high and mighty!
The jealousy she had suppressed for so long finally erupted.
She dropped her facade completely. "What are you so proud of, Serena? You think you're so great just because you're back? Let me tell you, I'm the one who's truly cherished in this family! Grandpa, Mom, and Dad love me the most! You're just a country girl who showed up halfway through. You can't possibly compare to the twenty years of affection we share!"
"Don't think that just because Grandpa, Mom, and Dad are being nice to you now, you can walk all over me! They just pity you! Once they see your true colors, they'll know that I'm the most qualified heiress for the Lancaster family!"
"Oh?" Serena raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of mockery. "Done with the act?"
The casual, unfazed demeanor infuriated Isabella even more. Her face contorted, but she couldn't stop a cold sneer from spreading across her lips. "What are you so smug about? Look at you. You've been back for so long, has anyone in the family mentioned throwing a party to introduce you? Has anyone mentioned publicly announcing your identity as the Lancaster heiress?"
