She had several messages, all asking if she was finished with her work and if she could make it to the Blackwood family’s dinner party.
Brianna had even sent a sticker of a sad, waiting face.
Even through the screen, Serena could imagine the little girl pouting, her face a picture of unhappiness as she sent the message.
She smiled and quickly sent Brianna a voice message: “Be there soon.”
Not a minute after the message was sent, a video call popped up.
It was Nicholas.
Serena raised an eyebrow.
She had replied to Brianna, but the call was from Nicholas.
It seemed Brianna had failed to snatch the phone.
Serena accepted the call, stepped on the gas, and continued driving.
The man on the screen was wearing a dark red suit that further accentuated his exceptionally noble face, lending him an alluringly aloof charm.
The brilliant crystal lights shone down on him.
From a distance, the suit looked black, but up close, it revealed an undercurrent of deep red.
His deep, intense eyes were filled with a radiant smile as he gazed at her.
“Are you driving?” the man’s cool voice came through the phone, exceptionally magnetic. “Drive safe. See you in a bit. Text me when you get here, and I’ll come get you.”
Serena grunted in acknowledgment.
Then, she heard Brianna’s protesting shouts in the background, trying to talk to her.
But just like that, the video call ended.
Serena smiled.
Right. No talking and driving. A rule everyone should follow.
